I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Galt - 08-11-2007

I just added a 16 year-old 3B to my fantasy baseball team.

you should be tarred, feathered and then dipped in aids.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Galt - 08-12-2007

but in 5 years, my keeper league is going to be solid.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Gooch - 08-12-2007

well, in that case, never mind.

to be honest, i'd do the same thing if i was in a keeper league. since hockey is my fave sport and i had a keeper league, if i knew someone at 16 was a sure thing...like a Sidney Crosby, I'd do what you did in a millisecond.

i've found that i only play regular leagues in baseball.

I signed Josh Beckett as a 16 year in high school in my keeper league. its fairly common for people to sign high school players in my league.

I recently signed the pair of 16 year old international free agents the Mets signed to their International Instruction League, OF Cesar David Puello Santana and IF Wilmer Alejandro Flores from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

Guys in my league use minor leaguers as chips to trade to people who have no shot at winning this season for solid veteran players with big contracts, much like real baseball teams would, to rebuild for the future.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Galt - 08-12-2007

yeah, us too.

Angel Villalona is the guy I signed.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Keyser Soze - 08-12-2007

I drafted him this year back in March. Have you heard anything recently that prompted you to pick him up?

Here are my minors...

3B Angel Villalona, Giants
OF Cesar Santana, Mets
OF Caleb Stewart, Mets
1B Mike Carp, Mets
OF Cedric Hunter, Padres
3B Fernando Tatis, Mets
OF Delwyn Young, Dodgers (Recently called up)

P Deolis Guerra, Mets
P Neftali Feliz, Braves
P Ryan Tucker, Marlins
P Sean West, Marlins

why do you have fernando tatis? is there another 16 yr old tatis coming along?? is the old one juicing again?

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Keyser Soze - 08-12-2007

I picked him up at the draft figuring he would be traded somewhere and starting for a major league team. He could be in Peru right now for all I know.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Galt - 08-12-2007

mine is a more shallow an/nl league.

I traded Carlos Gonzalez and needed to pick up a minor leaguer, so I grabbed Villalona given that he's showing pretty good power and plate discipline for such a young player.

my minor league team:
Taylor Teagarden ©
Asdrubal Cabrera (SS)
Matt Antonelli (2B)
Angel Villalona (3B)
Colby Rasmus (CF)
Desmond Jennings (CF)
Jay Bruce (RF)
Franklin Morales (SP)

Yeah, i'm in an NL only league.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Gooch - 08-12-2007

fascinating. makes me want to do a real keeper hockey league now...b/c it probably has same depth.

Re: I'm officially a fantasy baseball geek - Keyser Soze - 08-13-2007

the hard part is finding 12 people who still watch hockey.
