Pitchers and catchers starting soon enough, and the great thing about baseball is hope springs eternal (unless you are a Pirates or Royals fan) :banana: :banana: :keke:
I heard Brett Butler on radio today. For those of you who didn't yet hear, he was recently signed to be minor league roving coach, and to help Cedeno in spring training.
This interview made me feel good. Butler preached exactly what has been lost. That leadoff hitters only thought should be to take pitches, and get on base. He said (corretly) that a lead off hitter should strive to get a .400 OBP, and try to get at least 8 pitches in his ab. That working the count leads to pitchers tiring, and getting on base starts it all.
Mets had been getting away from that, and Ordonez was worst offender. Maybe they will get it this season.
