Evaluate my money league team.

12 Team League....

STARTERS
----------
Garcia, Jeff QB SF
Harrison, Marvin WR IND
Holt, Torry WR STL
Dillon, Corey RB CIN
Dunn, Warrick RB ATL
Crumpler, Alge TE ATL
Patriots, D D NE
Longwell, Ryan K GB

BENCH
-------
Brees, Drew QB SD
Booker, Marty WR CHI
Mason, Derrick WR TEN
Brown, Tim WR OAK
Bettis, Jerome RB PIT
White, Jamel RB CLE
Wheatley, Tyrone RB OAK

seems pretty good, but i'd try to trade the a benched receiver or two and/or dunn for a better #2 back, one who is the feature player. also, pick up a free agent tight end for when crumpler has a bye/gets hurt

- Galt - 08-25-2003

You've got some real good WR on the bench that you need to trade (or trade Holt who is overvalued since he never scores TDs). Mason and Booker are top 20 receivers. You seriously need to upgrade your RB. Dunn is crap, and Dillon isn't much better (looks like your grab WR first theory didn't quite work out...) Good D. I think the Pats will be real good this year for turnovers/sacks.

Drop White and Wheatley; try and get a good backup QB because Garcia is questionable.

a real mans 14 team league (10th pick): We start QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, RB/WR, TE, K, D
Also a money league

QB: Green, Hasselbeck
RB: Edge, Garner, J Stewart, K Faulk, J Fargas
WR: Holt, R. Smith, J. Reed, K Johnson
TE: Shockey
D: Titans, Redskins
K: Reed (Pitt)

Quote:A. Lelie

he is going to be a fucking STUD this year

- Galt - 08-25-2003

Actually he's not on my team anymore. I wrote the wrong name.

I just traded him away for Hasselbeck.

- HollywoodJewMoses - 08-25-2003

boo

- Velociti - 08-25-2003

any football player named ashley or ashlee or however the fuck you spell it is destined for failure

- Galt - 08-25-2003

what about Shannon or Lynn?

- Keyser Soze - 08-25-2003

or Pat? or Stacy?

- Sir O - 08-25-2003

I wouldn't worry too much about Garcia.

Quote:Clipped from The Sacramento Bee:
Jeff Garcia not only knocked off the rust in his first preseason start Saturday evening, he looked positively shiny.

In his first game since injuring his lower back in mid-July, Garcia scrambled, improvised and mostly looked like his old self in 1 1/2 quarters of play of the 49ers' 27-12 win over the New Orleans Saints. He took 15 snaps, completing 6 of 7 passes for 52 yards.

As has been said, outstanding WR's but terrible RB's. If you could package Dunn and Holt for a top RB (maybe Edge or Henry?) you should jump on the chance. And dump Wheatley, he's the Raiders' #3 back.

TE could be good, but the Atl offense is a huge question mark now. DEF and K ok, not great but not bad.

- Galt - 08-25-2003

by the way, I would take my team over Keyser's and I'm in a 14 team league.

He's got better depth, but I have better starters.

- Keyser Soze - 08-25-2003

Green < Garcia ADV: Keyser
Edge > Dunn ADV: Galt
Garner < Dillon ADV: Keyser
J Stewart < Harrison ADV: Keyser
Holt = Holt ADV: Tie
Shockey > Crumpler ADV: Galt
Pats < Titans or Skins ADV: Keyser

I think i've got better starters.

- HedCold - 08-25-2003

shouldn't it be edge > dillon and garner > dunn?

- Sir O - 08-25-2003

Quote:Edge > Dunn ADV: Galt
Garner < Dillon ADV: Keyser
But...

Edge > Dillon
Garner > Dunn

No?

- Keyser Soze - 08-25-2003

ok, ill give you that. he has a really strong team for a 14 team league. i still think my team is slightly better as Harrison is head and shoulders better than Edge or Stewart while Dillon is better than Garner. Shockey is a wildcard.

- Galt - 08-25-2003

Garner is better than Dillon anyway. Garner will have as many TDs and about 300+ more yards.

Garcia (if healthy) > Green or Hasselbeck. By no means a guaranteee

You've got better WR, I've got MUCH better RB. The difference of Harrison to Rod Smith is not even close to making up for the dropoff from Edge/Garner to Dillon/Dunn

Plus Shockey is way better than Crumpler.

And who cares about Defenses or kickers

- Sir O - 08-25-2003

Quote:Harrison is head and shoulders better than Edge or Stewart

Stewart yes, but Edge? I really think Edge will break the fuck out this year.

Projection:

Harrison 1650 rec yds, 16 TD's

Edge 1575 rush yds 13 TD's, 500 rec yds 4 TD's

As for Dillon vs. Garner

Dillon 1425/9, 225/1
Garner 875/6, 650/3

I don't think I've seen any sites rank Garner over Dillon actually...

- Keyser Soze - 08-25-2003

Harrison (405) , Smith (214) ... a 191 pt dropoff
Garner (272), Dillon (240) ... a 32 pt dropoff

Seems fairly obvious. You don't have a MUCH better RB.

Lets go a step further, lets combine your RBs and mine.

Edge(262) and Garner(272) ... 534 total pts
Dillon(240) and Dunn(228) ... 468 total pts

66 pt difference

Lets look at my WRs to yours total pts.

Harrison(405) and Holt(254) ... 659 total pts
Holt(254) and Smith(214) ... 468 total pts

a whopping 191 pt dropoff

it doesnt matter where you get the points from position wise, its that you get them.

still your team is seriously solid for a 14 team league and shouldnt be compared to mine in the first place, its not fair to.

- Galt - 08-25-2003

Garner had almost 2000 yards last year and 11 touchdowns
Dillon had over 1600 yards and 7 touchdowns, which is pretty much what he's been doing consistently since he came into the league

In my league's scoring that's 70 more points for Garner

I don't know if anyone has Garner ranked higher, but both were on the board, and I took Garner. He's had 1,800+ total yards 3 of the last four years, while Dillon doesn't get much past 1600. That's 20 points, or 3 touchdowns difference.

- Galt - 08-25-2003

In what kind of scoring does Harrison get 400 points and Garner gets 270?

Harrison had 1700 yards and 11 touchdowns. Garner had 1900 yards and 11 touchdowns.
