- Maynard - 03-22-2002 OK, for those of you that care about this upcoming project. I found a few things out. They still don't have a band name yet. They had something they were going to use, but scrapped it. Here's another article from Entertainment Weekly. In the ever-changing world of Rage Against the Machine, things are finally a little less superunknown. The band - whose future seemed foggy after frontman Zack de la Rocha quit last year to go solo - have confirmed they're forming a new group with ex-Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell. The quartet has already written 21 songs and will soon enter the studio to record an album with producer Rick Rubin. "When these guys got together, it really sparked musically," says Cornell's manager, Jim Guerinot. "There was something both creatively and personally that was magic." Even more magical is the fact the the artists' labels, Epic and Interscope, will allow the project to go forward. "[Both labels] have met and have agreed to figure it out." says Guerinot. "They've assured us there won't be any holdup on their part." The album could be in stores as soon as this fall, although Cornell and Co. are still working on lyrics and arrangements and have yet to decide on a band moniker. How about Never Named? Entertainment Weekly, June 1, 2001, Hear&Now column by Rob Brunner I am PSYCHED for this band. People are worried that Cornell won't fit in with the band because he's not as political as them, but to tell you the truth. I wouldn't mind seeing them drop some of that. This is a NEW band. Maybe they will do some different things. Here's a little something else... And, as the deal suggests, Rage manager Mensch insists this will not be a one-time side project. "Until the boat founders on the shoals," he told the Times, "this is as permanent as anything." Yahoo Daily News - LZMF1 - 03-22-2002 that's gonna kick ass!!!!! i was a bit annoyed after soundgarden split up and cornell did some solo shit and then fell off the radar. i'm definitely looking forward to that. - Spitfire - 03-22-2002 I'll just repost this... Quote:No, I think the new project will be a totally new sound. Zakk wrote all the Rage lyrics, I think they'll be taking a less political stance...but it will probably be heavy as fuck.... Edited By Spitfire on Mar. 22 2002 at 12:20 - BeckyDC - 03-22-2002 Im over Rage. I dont wanna even hear them now that Zach left. - LZMF1 - 03-22-2002 think about it....... rage with chris cornell wailing as their frontman that's gonna rock! :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: BADMOTORENEGADES Edited By LZMF1 on Mar. 22 2002 at 1:31 - Arthur Dent - 03-22-2002 I was really pissed when Soundgarden broke up. I had tickets to see them at Roseland and they broke up two weeks before the concert. If Cornell is singing hard-core like he did on Badmotorfinger, then this will fucking rock. I never liked the political edge to Rage, so I really hope they drop it. - Gooch - 03-22-2002 Arthur Dent Wrote:I was really pissed when Soundgarden broke up. I think it should be interesting...Cornell solo was hohum...and RAGE needs a frontman. Seems to be the perfect match. Personally, I like Zack, so I'll be curious to what he does. Not many know that there was a very politically active rap group out back in the 90's, called the Disposable Heroes of HipHopracy, and I wonder if Zack is going to sound too much like they did on his own. Because where politically active rap was concerned, they were the trendsetters there, though never a crossover or hit. - Arthur Dent - 03-22-2002 I only heard two songs of Cornell's solo album. I liked them, but as mellow stuff to relax to. Looking forward to some ass-kicking rock. Speaking of which, has Korn's new album come out yet? Last I heard, it kept getting delayed. - Keyser Soze - 03-22-2002 The frontman from Disposable Heros Of Hipocracy went on to start a band called Spearhead as a solo artist. I was diggin some of the DHOH shit but never got into Spearhead. Cornell is a wailer, De La Rocha was a funky hip hopper with an edge. I will reserve judgement on this new Rage until I hear it but I was really disappointed when he left. I'm a big Soundgarden and Cornell fan though so I am intriqued. - LZMF1 - 03-23-2002 it has yet to be determined how it's gonna sound but i, like keyser, am intrigued.
