I saw the top 10 and I didn't see Dice on there. This list like most others is bullshit. Also they had Prior as 1 instead of Carlin who is obviously the best. It's probably because he's black and handicapped.

- IrishAlkey - 04-19-2004

Black and handicapped is redundant.

- Keyser Soze - 04-19-2004

they dont respect dice enough to put him on the list.

- The Sleeper - 04-19-2004

he was #95

- Galt - 04-19-2004

Dice must love that David Alan Grier was ahead of him.

- The Sleeper - 04-19-2004

Howie Mandel over Norm makes me want to rip all the hairs out of my body simultaneously

- HedCold - 04-19-2004

i'll never forget the part in a married with children episode where peggy was reading national enquirer, and on the cover it said "Howie Mandel tells funny joke"

- Galt - 04-19-2004

Norm MacDonald would have sold his soul to the Devil to come up with the latex glove over the head bit.

- The Jays - 04-19-2004

I hate Judy Gold, and I hate that she had to talk for every single comedian. I really don't need to hear how funny the Jews are 100 times.

Maybe just switch Roseanne with Dice.

I think it's pretty sad to publish a list that has Sandra Bernhard, Janeane Garofalo, and Gallagher as the only people who are less funny that Andrew Dice Clay.

- GonzoStyle - 04-19-2004

Leary at 50, pssh.

- Sir O - 04-19-2004

Quote:Leary at 50, pssh.

Considering the fact that Leary ripped his entire act off Bill Hicks (who is about 16 spots too low), he shouldn't have made the list at all.

And Roseanne in the top 10? That's fucking ridiculous.

- GonzoStyle - 04-19-2004

everyone was influenced by someone, while their styles are in the same vein i'd hardly say he ripped him off. Leary didn't rip off Hicks as much as Carlin didn't rip off Lenny Bruce, nor Eddie Murphy Redd Foxx, etc etc. Everyone takes from someone else in some aspect.

Though I agree that hicks coulda been upped more but his career was unfortunatly cut short, yet no way I rank rosanne, ellen, and I as much as I liked his early stuff steve martin shouldn't crack the top 30.

- Sir O - 04-19-2004

I'd normally agree with you, it's true everybody was influenced by somebody. But the thing is, Leary took material practically verbatim from Hicks' act and used it as his own. If you haven't done so, read the book American Scream: the Bill Hicks Story, there's a section where they compare Hicks' work to that of Leary years later, and it leaves no doubt that Leary was more than just influenced by Hicks' act. And I guess I'll preemptively pull an Arpi and say that I don't have the book with me right now so I can't bring up specific examples.

I used to be a fan of Leary's too, and I admit he can be funny on his own, I just lost a ton of respect for him when I learned this.

The Jays Wrote:I hate Judy Gold, and I hate that she had to talk for every single comedian. I really don't need to hear how funny the Jews are 100 times.
It was also annoying how she kept saying "right....right...right" to everything anyone else was saying. David Brenner was the most annoying guest host too. Every time they announced a comedian he'd be like "I KNOW THIS GUY HE CALLED ME THE OTHER DAY" and he wouldn't let anyone else talk. The commentary by all of them was really lame though. It was always "wow he was groundbreaking" or "he really was the first one to blah blah". Yea all 100 comedians were so groundbreaking. And Mitch Hedberg should've been on the list.

- The Jays - 04-19-2004

Seriously, all they ever do is point out how great each one is. I want them to tell me what Pat Cooper is missing, and what Dave Attell has that puts him above Pat. I want them to give reasons why this person isn't number one.
Like Roseanne. If they just started out like,
"well, she did fuck up the national anthem, and fucked up the last season of her show, so she's at number 95."
Or Gallagher.
"He smashed watermelons on stage. Everything is funnier than that."
Jeff Foxworthy
"Only poor white people from the country want to hear poor white people from the country do comedy."

Then it would be entertaining.

- diceisgod - 04-20-2004

If they turned that list upside down it would seem that they put some legitimate effort into it....a teeny smidge at least.

- The Sleeper - 04-20-2004

So you think Gallagher is the #1 comedian of all time?
