Jackson quits, kobe opts out, malone opts out and shaq is demanding a trade.
The lakers are done, though shaq much like Jordan, loved Jackson. Kobe hated Jackson and the triangle, so maybe now with shaq possibly leaving kobe may stay in LA.
Granted ofcourse this is assuming he's not in jail.
Payton would probably also stay if shaq is gone cause that will make him the second scoring option if kobe stays and thats what payton wants.

what incentive does payton have to stay? he took a big ass pay cut and the team isn't going to be close to competing. granted it didn't look like he had much left, but maybe he can go be a backup on a good team like jersey or dallas

he wants touches and he wants to score points, he won't get that in dallas obviously and he wont do well in the back court with kidd thats just asking for trouble.
If shaqs gone then payton will be la's second scoring option if kobe stays.
