Last week, a guy I work with signed up for Netflix and was wondering some movies he should rent. I gave him a bunch of movies, and Boondock Saints was one that he hadn't heard of.

I told him how it's on every "underrated movie" list blah blah blah. It got me wondering: what happened to that guy Troy Duffy who wrote/directed the movie? It was a good flick, you gotta figure that he must have been swimming in offers. Why hasn't he done anything since?

So fast forward to this weekend, I see a story about a documentary called "Overnight" that chronicles Troy Duffy writing the thing, getting discovered by Miramax, becoming King of LA and then turning everyone against him by being a total asshole. The review (which is weird they were reviewing it this weekend since the documentary came out in '03) really made the documentary sound hilarious. I guess the Duffy guy is totally insane and thinks everyone is out to get him.

There was a comic strip named Boondock Saints ??

- Goatweed - 11-15-2004

I thought it was just called "Boondocks".

having seen the movie and being a fan of the comic, I can see how people easily confuse the two.

it's the "boondocks" not "boondock saints" but still.

There was talk of a sequel...but I think it might have gotten squashed.

never saw the movie but the boondocks is my favorite comic strip

- Hawt Baux - 11-15-2004

I thought it was overrated but they are making a sequel

- The Sleeper - 11-15-2004

that documentary sounds awesome

- drusilla - 11-15-2004

wow, i really really hope that movie doesn't suck. i will be so disappointed after the first movie was so so good.

- Galt - 11-15-2004

The Dafoe character took so much away from the movie.

- drusilla - 11-15-2004

yeah, that whole tranny thing really was out there. just helps to show how crazy both duffy & dafoe are.

- Hawt Baux - 11-15-2004

The tranny thing was funny, i didn't like how the opening was shot, that whole fish market scene felt forced.

- PatCooper - 11-15-2004

I just saw boondock saints a few weeks back and i was told how good it was blah, blah, blah. And Dafoe made that movie watchable. It was well written but the actors besides Dafoe seemed to just walked through it. Nothing really special.

- drusilla - 11-15-2004

Sean Patrick Flannery used to be on my "list", but i think he's fallen off.

- Arpikarhu - 11-15-2004
