most people have had the bond discussion who was the best bond, connery, moore, lazenby, dalton, brosnan and everyone has a favorite.
I was talkin to a friend and I recently purchased "patriot games" and "clear and present danger" for 5 bucks a piece, they were on sale at FYE.
I already had Red October and Sum of all fears.
I loved the books and Red October was always my favorite of the 4 movies, naturally for me sum of all fears doesn't even really rank with the other 3.
But I have always said that Alec Baldwin was the best Jack Ryan by leaps and bounds over Harrison Ford. Obviously ford is a great actor who always got great parts, from star wars to jones to jack ryan, etc. He's your modern day Gregory Peck, Gary Cooper type actor. He was ok as Ryan but everyone seems to associate Ryan with Harrison Ford, while its only 4 movies in total and he did 2.
Mainly I always felt he was too old to be Ryan, secondly he just didn't play a convinicng ryan. He tried to play him too much like a super hero james bond type, rather than desk guy who gets thrown into high conflict situations like Baldwin did.

Harrison Ford is lazy and overrated. he constantly takes roles where he does less and less. Alec Baldwin, on his worst day, can act circles around Ford. Ford is the worst of what acting can drop off to....so rich, so lazy, that he refuses to stretch, learn or grow. Affleck is starting to fall into that, much like Paul Neuman did for a bit.

Affleck has got to be the worlds worst actor. Why would anyone put him on a list with real talent is beyond me.

Baldwin - tho I might be biased, as he's one of my favorite actors.
I recently saw The Cooler and as usual, he was amazing - as was Macy.
Ford was excellent in Regarding Henry, tho the rest of his work never really matched his role there IMO. I hate that he took the action/thriller stuff from the Jack Ryan series and tried to use it on his own (Air Force One, for example).

does it say that you can take peyote in the 2nd ammendment? thats the only way Harrison Ford is a good actor.

I agree with Goat, his performance in regarding henry was very good. He's been extremely lucky in his career, mainly due to star wars and indiana jones. I also agree that he kinda took the Ryan character and incorporated it into some of his following roles like air force one. I remember many people thought that air force one was a part of the Ryan series.

Baldwin is great in the scumbag role, I hate him in any "hero" roles.
