I don't think Rummy will be fired simply because it would show Bush made a bad decision having him in the first place and could hurt his re-election.

Iraq has been mismanaged from the start,
not all can be put on the SofD's lap...
but.

The over reliance of Chelabi,
the underestimation of troop strength needed,
the attack on the general who pushed for more troops,
the utter lack of a postwar strategy.
and the cavalier attitude toward all the miscalculations.

All this is true, but in the eyes of the public it would be an admission of failure on Bush's behalf to fire him.

Which is why he won't get fired,
Bush is in a no win situation.

His failure to admit any error to date,
makes it impossible for him to fire someone based on an accumulation of fuck ups,

but if he does nothing, it is a tacit approval of incompetance.

Its not just Bush, nobody in his administration has the ability to even acknowledge they may have made a slight miscalculation or mistake. Its pathetic actually.
