He ended the season with a 36 game hit streak, if he continued it next season (though unlikely), would it count towards Dimaggios record and if so would it be as impressive? At least its one bright spot in Digs life besides the H and Heartbreak Ridge.

Yeah naturally it wouldn't be a "single season" record but wouldn't it be more impressive if rollins hit in his first 21 games, being that it wasnt over the course of one hot streak?

It'd be impressive but it wouldn't be the record.

To more accurately answer Gonzo's question, in my opinion it wouldnt be any more impressive than if he had started this year with a 21 game streak and ended it with another 36 game streak.

what if he had a 48 hit streak twice in one season? Would that be impressive?

Indeed impressive but not as impressive as the 56 naturally because it shows that they cracked under the pressure, it's as impressive as 56 and 58 home run seasons prior to the breaking of the 61 home run season (allegedly), by people like foxx, greenberg, and junior griffey.

It's as significant as pitching no hit ball for 9 innings, but losing in the 10th.
When Joe Dimaggio began his streak, it was May 15th, and the Yanks were in 4th place. By the time his streak ended in July, they were in first. He started a streak of 16 games after his 56 ended, so he hit safely in 72 out of 73 games during that span.
36 games with a hit in each game, but the Phillies had their season ended. It would have been something special if the Phillies made the playoffs, and the streak continued all the way till the last game of the World Series, that would have been something. But in the end, 36 games, its 126 chances too late.
