Dispatch...do you know who they are?

Once upon a time, on my way to Bar 9 with Pantera in his SUV, he played a band for me. I listened to it and turned to him and said: "who the hell is this?!!? This is great!"

They might be the greatest unknown band of all-time. Most of their work was distributed through Napster's peer-to-peer...and have a huge following under the radar. To prove that power...their final show when they broke up was at the Hatch in Boston in 2004...and 110,000 came out to see them...causing absolute panic for the Boston police. It is the largest gathering for an independent band ever.

They are reforming (all have solo projects) for 3 shows to benefit Zimbabwe. There are now the only independent band to sell out Madison Square Garden...not once...but twice, and a 3rd show is on sale tomorrow, which will sell out as well.

I have 13 Dispatch songs in my collection - and while a couple are OK, none are 4-star songs. Their music one song at a time is decent, but it becomes unbearable listening to their songs continuously.

They remind me of Phish, who I can also stomach one song at a time, but couldn't possibly listen to an album.
