So it's your contention that Oxygen atoms are only stable if they are bound to each other?

Please ask Mr. Google how then a pair of Hydrogen and a SINGLE Oxygen seem to do so well?

They are stable when they are bound to each other and no other molecule. A single molecule is stable, however, when it is connected to 2 Hydrogen molecules. But as said before, it is not possible to break up 2 oxygen molecules to merge one of them with 2 Hydrogen molecules. So, water cannot be made chemically.
