Is popup advertising fair to the consumer?

Quote:The internet for the most part is great now.
You obviously missed out on the time when the Internet was truly great. It sucks major league ass now.

The thing you are missing is that pre-1998(or so) the Internet was a place to share information. At some point, it became a money-making venture. That is what ruined it. You see, when only 30% of the people were looking to turn a profit, it wasn't all bad. But as soon as stupid fucks like you figured out that you could make a dime, the Internet as we knew it came to an end. The prolifiration of pop-up ads is only a testament to that.

You must realize that back in the day, banner ads made enough money to pay your server bill. When the influx of mouth breathers occurred, it then became necessary to have pop-ups. The reason behind this is most likely the fact that there are millions of websites now, as opposed to hundreds of thousands only a couple of years ago.

So, you can go on living in your sheltered little world believing that the internet is great now, and I will continue to say that it is shit! The fact that everyone and their mother has a computer is great. The fact that any kind of cadence or protocol is lost on you all, is a fucking shame.
