Bad backs suck, I threw mine out last Memorial Day. Everyone else is at a BBQ, and I'm in the ER hoping I get prescribed some serious painkillers.
I also have shitty knees, which I'm told is common in tall-folk. When I was just starting high-school, I was playing stickball one weekend and for whatever reason I took a swing, my right knee twisted in the most unnatural way, and I was on crutches for a month. The doctor said I has "weak-knee syndrome" (there was a fancier name, I just don't remember it). My two options were get surgery or live with it. Surgery meant serious downtime and a 40% chance of a limp. Living with it meant I couldn't play competitive sports (like football, which was a dream I had - the only reason I went to the high-school I went to was because of their football program). So , I lived with it. I figured that jumping into a football career with one bad knee would only mean my career would've been cut short, and I didn't see the point of asking for more trouble.
It depresses me that I really can't play any serious sports, but I can fuck around - I just gotta be careful. Oh, and 2 years after the right knee went out, my left knee did the same (I tripped on a raised sidewalk) but it didn't pop out as bad as the first one. So, a bad back, two shitty knees - it's a wonder I can have sex.
