Interpretation of dreams is an excellent read but if you know little about him it may be too advanced to start off with. I prefer the writings of Jung myself, frued is more of a morbid curiosity.

I could type out a bunch of shit but it'd be easier for you to go to the following sites which I have used personally in the past when researching Freud.

These sites offer an in depth look at frueds life, work and ideas and are very good reads.

As far as a book better suited before you try reading 'dreams' by freud is reading a book by Alexander Welsh, it's called "Freud's Wishful Dream Book". In essence it is a book dedicated to a book, the book is dedicated to "interpretation of dreams"
