try Slanted & Enchanted...harder edge. Crooked Rain is pretty mellow. Wowee Zowee is probably their best...cross between mellow, loud, and very Floydy at times. Malkmus...pompous??? Possibly, but that'd require him seeking to become stars, which he never did. He was, however, very controlling.
