also last year, the mets won a ton of games against the marlins and phillies basically because the mets didn't make errors/do stupid shit, while the marlins and phillies have some pretty bad defensive players. combine those bad defensive players, and the mets being aggressive with their speed guys like reyes and chavez, and you stole some runs. that didn't happen this year except for that one game against the marlins where hanley and miggy made like 5 errors combined, and that wasn't even because the mets forced anything, they juts got lucky they are two horrible defensive players.
this always worried me because like, what if the marlins and phillies actually played good defense? what would happen against other teams that didn't make stupid errors? it finally caught up with them in the nlcs last year, then the second half of this year.
