It's definitely the hard drive based ones. The iPod is definitely the best. The only real drawback is price. And if 10 gigs on the go isn't enough for you I think they're coming out with a 20 gig one in a few months. The Nomad 3 Jukebox looks decent but still too big. The rest of the hard drive players suck.

The best cd mp3 players are the TDK Mojo, Rio Volt, and the Iriver SlimX. If you want it cheap the Memorex is nice.

Minidiscs aren't that great in my opinion since the media is so expensive.
