Yeah.. that WAS a little annoying.. Tolkien makes a point of demonstrating how Boromir is more akin in attitude and values to the Rohirrim, whereas the blood of Numenor bred true in his younger brother.

Oh, and I have to disagree with Gollum looking fake comment... the closest you can say is he looked too.. plasticy.. but considering that he's suppossed to be a creature at home in muck and slime.. much like a frog.. the sheen to his skin was, I'm sure, entirely intentional.
