for the first time all season, with the yanks in first and the sox behind in the wild card, for just this moment , i feel that harmony and balance has been restored to the world.

I love him. He's like those happy old people who become known for sitting by the side of a busy street and waving to passing cars. People drive by regularly and beep just to see him and get him to wave to them.

That's just like our Arpi... except he doesn't wave or anything. He just says mean things to you.

It was no stretch in April to say that Rivera wasn't the best closer. Some or all of Gagne, Lidge, Rodriguez, Nathan, and possibly Foulke were considered by most everyone (aside from direhard Yankee fans like you, who also think that Jeter is both the best defensive and offensive shortstop in baseball) to better than Rivera.

He has most assuredly had an amazing year, probably his best ever, and definitely was without a shadow of a doubt the best closer in baseball this year.

One area of concern:

2005 vs. Boston (regular season)
8.2 innings 6 runs

2004 vs. Boston (regular season)
10.2 innings 5 runs

2004 vs. Boston (playoffs)
3.1 innings 702,052,252 runs
