Nah....I stayed with the bank I used when I bought the house. I figured the closing costs using Ditech would have been over $10K. If you change banks, they hit you with this mortgage transfer tax on the entire mortgage amt :-o

Hell yeah. That tax is like 0.75% of the total mortgage, then on top of that, they make you set up a new escrow account, which more or less means you're putting up a full year's worth of property taxes. That's why the costs go up so quickly. Then there are points, attorney's fees (fucking scumbag attorneys.....hiya BM :lookatme

They'll tell you that you have 3 days to cancel the re-fi, but they push you through on signing the papers.
