We haven't gotten it yet, I'm goping through the realty that is selling my in-law's house. The name is Colonial Funding, but I'm pretty sure they're local (staten island). 0 points, too :-D

Sad thing is...a lot of the dudes on the street want to be there...we got a call in our office today from a homeless man who lives on the ferry (maybe he's the one who found the keys) we found him a bed in a nicer shelter and set him up with social services and he turned it down.
Oh no we took it back to far

i thought they got rid of the commuter tax because it was unconstitutional. no taxation without representation.

yes they got rid of it because i think they rescinded it for some (I think suburbs and Long Island) but did not do it for Jersey and Connecticut. It was unconstitutional because they dont vote for ny's government.

Today's papers say Bloomberg might have put in that obnoxious rate (same as residents) to try and get back the more reasonable old rate. Nassau co. might not fight if State does other givebacks, but Westchester & NJ oppose completely. Pataki ran on a platform against restoring it, but he has been awfully quiet.
By the way, today's paper seemed to be saying that the proposed rate, which would be same for residents and non-residents, is actually a reduction for residents (to compensate for property tax increase). That would make a double FU. It is bad enough to have to contribute just for the "privilege" of working there, but to pay the same rate as residents even though you get no services is outrageous.
And for all you anti-democrats out there, just remember he is a republican...... :crackhead:

Bloomberg is not a real Republican....
Fucking dick is cutting cops....now the next academy isn't going in in July from what I understand...that's fucking wonderful.....oh and he's trying to raise the express bus fare from $3 to $4, because my extra $2 a day will really make a difference to the city.

McGreevey said that if this commuter tax does go through then he will impose one on people from NY who work in NJ.

I was kinda tongue in cheek about that. It was a dig at people who decide good/evil based on party affiliation rather than policies/ideas. And there is no such thing as a "real" or fake Republican - the only definition that matters is what he registered as. Just like those super conservative southern democrats.
NY Republican party was more than willing to take credit for him when he won the election....

Well get this, I read either on cnn.com or msnbc.com that conneticut will also impose a commuter tax on new yorkers if this goes through. No good can come of this and it is one more reason I'm glad to live in the garden state. :thumbs-up:

There should be a tourist tax instead of a commuter tax. The commuters pay the tolls and i know the transit authority is racking in the cash with the metrocards. Make the fucking people who visit the city pay a tax instead of the people that make the Damn city work.

Soon i'm sure. I bet once the ferry renovation is complete they go back to charging to use the ferry. And i doubt it will be a quarter like it once was.

I'm sure its only a matter of time until parking meter rates go up as well. It's amazing with all the things that are going up in price, etc. just how many services are being cut. I have NO problem with the taxes on cigarettes, etc., but when you start to tax things simply because you know no matter what people have to use them, it just seems wrong. Considering the world we live in today, to cut emergency services, no matter what the budget is just sickening.
