You're refering to the Hobbit & return of the king; the LOTR animated version of fellowship was a ralph Bakshi production - very different,

Remember that those 2 movies were Rankin & Bass productions (the same guys that did "Frosty the snowman, etc,) I think there must have been another story - that was the inspiration.
