Lady Liberty would be a huge coup for any terrorist organization. They will inflect plenty of death and fear with suicide bombings. But to destroy a symbol of freedom recognized worldwide, the emotional impact around the world would be huge. The deaths realized from the attack on the WTC was secondary to their desires, a bonus if you will to their plans. Their intention was to bring them down. Attack a symbol of worldwide capitalism in the heart of the worlds most powerful city. I'm sure they didn't expect to take many casualties targeting the Pentagon. It was the symbolism of attacking the heart of the US military machine. Symbolism and fear is the primary goal of terrorists. Casualties is just a plus in their minds.

Pentagon wasn't the target. Analyisis of the jets flight path shows it was trying for either the Capital Dome or the White House. They missed the line-up and when they turned found themselves pointed at the Pentagon and went for it.

It's the general position of the experts that the terrorists new goal is maximum casualties and disruption of daily life for the purpose of creating terror.

They want to attack the American way of life, attacking everything America stands for would be targeting the Statue of Liberty. The Brooklyn Bridge would mean more casualties and a greater shut down of transportation, but both are going to strike immense fear into citizens.

there will be another attack, it's just a matter of time. if they go the way of the suicide bomber, no one can stop them, not now anyway. we have a little security truck that drives around malls, if we want to attempt to stop them, place securtiy people at the doors of the mall and at the doors of supermarkets. not one terrorist has succeded to blow him'herself up inside a shopping center or supermarket in israel because of this, they blow themselves up outside when they approach the doors, but they have never gotten inside.
as for lady liberty or the bridge, if they want to take it out, it might be at the same time, or pretty damn close like the wtc. oas is right, sybmolism is their main concern, casualties are bonus points.

If disruption of daily life, and shock value are the main goals, it would seem that the Hudson river crossings, as well as the Brooklyn Bridge and the Varranzano would be prime targets. If they could successfully eliminate them all at roughly the same time, the city would be for all intent and purpose crippled. It would take hundreds of ferries days to get everyone out of the city. The national and likely the world economy would be in it's biggest upheaval in 80 years. Sure, the Statue of Liberty, or the Liberty Bell, as well as other historical targets would make great symbolic impact, but what would drive fear into Americans more than seeing it's largest city paralyzed....again?

ikea, i don't mean that their targets are tiny ant holes, i mean that when people keep saying shopping malls are the next target, or they have plans to blow up the brooklyn bridge, or they might rent crop dusters to spread the thrax. i think these are great ideas, and if they hadn't thought of them, well, here are more targets for them. we should keep our mouths fucking shut cuz they're ganna do what they want, and when they want it. you can't get all panic-ie. we'ree no safer now then we were on 9/10.
