I don't know if you've seen these TV ads. I've seen a few of them. Mario Van Peebles making a movie about his father making a movie in the 70s that apparently became some big cult hit.

It's been out for two weeks. So last weekend was only the second weekend that the movie had been out.

The early adopters who saw it the opening weekend got tell all their friends how great it was. The people who thought about seeing it, got to watch Ebert and Roeper and get all pumped up to watch the movie.

How much did it bring in last weekend? $323.

So far; $359,259 for two weeks. Now, I don't know how much it costs to buy advertising, but I know I've seen a few ads for this movie, and I would imagine that they're going to lose their shirts on this friggin thing.

Mario Van Peebles should be banned from ever making another movie. He's such a horrible actor, even the blacks wouldn't waste their time watching it.

Yeah, I read it wrong I guess. It's been out for 11 weeks. I thought it was the second week and it was shown on 11 screens, but it's been out for 11 weeks and was shown on 2 screens.

I got it off Yahoo movies, so it's probably not the definitive source. But according to that, the movie made $323 last weekend.

Still though, $360k total is pretty pathetic. Just the five ads I've seen for the movie probably cost more than that.

it definately never found an audience...but very well-reviewed, actually. plays in less theaters, but definately lost cash on marketing. Sony tried to push some niche films this summer, and none of them really hit.
