Quote:psssshaw, I am not a republican, democrat, conservative, compasionate or any of those other labels.
I just prefer facts and common sense.
Right. I'm not suggesting you're a member of the LP, but what you wrote there may as well have been written by Harry Browne. Cut government spending, it's the libertarian way. The Bush way is to cut taxes and increase spending. Decrease the flow of money going into government, but increase the amount they spend. On what planet does that make sense? Would anyone take a pay cut, then run out and buy a Benz?
So yeah, the GOP used to be the party of less government spending. They're also the party that fought Clinton on many proposed Big Brother-esque legislations during his time in office, calling them too intrusive, only to pass the PATRIOT act once one of theirs was in office. Ashcroft's still pushing for PATRIOT II. If that gets passed, we may as well forget that the word "freedom" ever existed...

Now that the Republicans own Washington,
what happened to the Contract with America?
what happened to term limits and all the other vote getting things they promised?
and while I agree that the surplus was formed at a time of an economy run amok,
it was Bush who used a model of continued amokdom to justify a tax cut.

The contract with America was like 10 years ago.
All ten of the items were introduced into Congress. Many of them were vetoed by Clinton

my point is,
that NOW that they KNOW they could pass any such bill,
they won't submit them.

You mean like now that they KNOW they could get....say any judge they wanted approved, they wouldn't introduce a conservative spic who would be a prime candidate for the Supreme Court?

Republicans defending this administration puzzle me almost as much as Iraqis sabotaging their own piplines.
Speaking of Demos vs Repubs - did anyone see, on CSPAN BookTV, Al Franken and Bill O'Riley at the same book symposium, and Al's up there at the podium, with Bill sitting right next to him, absolutely TRASHING him for like 10 minutes straight. Classic. All the better because O'Riley just lost it after Frankin was done.
Taking lack of motivation to a whole new level.

yes. I saw that. It was from like three months ago. They are both idiots.
Franken is a complete asshole.
O'Reilly is a little whiny bitch.

Franken is the worst SNL cast member ever, the man makes Colin Quinn look like a prime Eddie Murphy.
yes I am a communist, you found me out.
I am a marxist-lenninist at heart, it has been my plan all this time to make a message board about them...

I did enjoy some of the Franken and Davis stuff,
and Al Franken had some good stuff on the news,
his proclaiming the eighties the "Al Franken Decade" was pretty funny.

How did O'Reily respond to Franken?

well thats why the franken era sucked, the 80's were horrible and has no fans except for arpi, hair bands, and groupies who forgot to settle down and get married and are now the laughing stocks of their families and are 50, old and sagging and working at your local diner. I'd say the corporate fat cats but they have Cheyney now.

alas,
I am a fan of the eighties too,
but unlike arpi, I did let them go.
