but it opens to that once you post..so if you leave the site, or have opened another window to chat/another site...thats what it would show, correct?

Well the logical answer would be that you were reading the thread and replied to someone, lets say for argument sake you saw something on page 3 of the thread that you wanted to reply to. You reply but the thread has 2 more pages to read, so you go back and finish reading the thread.

Or like I do, out of ego, even though I know what i wrote its so amazing I must look at it again in awe of my greatness, did anyone ask michaelangelo why he would gaze at the sistine chapel ceiling since he painted it?
