I'll reply to a thread and keep reading it if, say, the thread is a couple pages long, and someone posts something I wanna quote and reply directly to, I'll read the whole thread, then return to the post, reply to it, and then read the thread again to see if there is any other stuff I want to say, in which case I'll edit my reply, or just reply again.

But mostly because I just love to see that I posted in a thread on the internet.
