I disagree galt, it is unfair to take someone from today and put him in the past. The athlete was different back then.
Players get bigger, stronger and better with each passing generation. Especially with todays salaries and the money involved, players are treated with more respect than they were back then, their every need is met. Back then they were treated basically as servants to the tycoons of baseball.
That would be as fair as saying that Lennox Lewis at 6' 6" and 250 pounds would knock out Jack Dempsey at 5' 9" and 180 pounds. Even though both men were heavyweight champions. But one is fighting today while the other one fought in ruths era.

Your exact point is why I say that Bonds is better.
Lennox Lewis would break Dempsey's neck with one punch.
Bonds is approximately 1 billion times the athlete that Ruth was for all the reasons you mentioned

I understand but it is unfair to compare the two. Ruth was decades ahead of his time.
If you take ruth from then, and put him in now. With the way the sport itself has evolved in play, money wise, training wise. I say Ruth would be better than bonds. Ruth was not just the best of his era, no one came close.
