I HATE the theory that you can't critcize "art" whether it be music, paintings, books, or anything else.
It is a stupid, inconsistent, theory. Why art? Because someone "poured their heart and soul" into it? Tough shit. That doesn't prevent it from sucking so. Why is art the only thing above reproach? Don't people who start companies pour their heart and soul into what they've created? But when they turn out a shitty product, it's everyone's right to say it sucks. Shitty shoes, shitty political idea, shitty workmanship for a laborer. Everything someone does is subjective. This whole "art" thing is bullshit. You are allowed, nay, encouraged to place a value on anything created. The value varies for each person. That's the point of an opinion. But just because someone thinks that what they are doing qualifies as holy art, tough shit if they can't take criticism. And FUCK THEM if they think their shit don't stink because they are an "artist". Anyone can put pen to paper and write something. And when they do, get ready to have that creating judged and valued.

Quote:Now I never bash people for the music I like because different people are into different stuff, but I can certainly bash the artist. I don't get it, you said you liked the guy but you didn't like his music. Shouldn't you be bashing his music but saying he seems like a cool guy? You bash people for the music YOU like?
04-17-2002, 04:58 AM
Sure there's some artists I hate but like their music. Take RATM. I hated when they would speak, but I liked their music. And just because this guy has a good attitude toward music and the business in general, doesn't mean his music is actually any good. So I guess this is bashing the artwork, not the artist.

Yeah but your statement said the opposite.
You still haven't addressed what you mean by "Now I never bash people for the music I like" did you mean "Now I never bash people for the music THEY like" or were you trying to say something else there?

Yes, I meant to say "THEY". Are you trying to say that YOU never had a typo?

Just to bring the topic back...
Quote:THIS GUY SUCKS MAJOR MONKEY DICK!!!More like big fat hairy mooseballs! To each his own, but I don't see it...maybe people are interested in less serious music, party hard! party hard! SHITTY CATCHY DRIBBLE! It's total Frat rock though. It totally reeks of keg stands, Abercrombie and Fitch and date rape. I used to think Island Records was a good label, but they release this junk instead of the new Unida...come on!!!!!! Although the singer sounded cool and level-headed on o&a, they are NOT metal

i thought the party hard song was kinda catchy. it's decent for when you feel like blasting loud crappy music with a beat, but i don't need to hear all the time. as for the rest of the album, we dl some of it and it's all the same song basically. i predict one hit wonder....
04-18-2002, 03:35 AM
i know i have said it before, but this guy reminds me of chumbawhumba, one catchy song, and then a full album of songs that sound just like the catchy one, only shittier:poopain:

THAT SONG IS NOT CATCHY!!!!!!!!!! That song is absolute shit. It has no redeeming qualities. If you really want a laugh. Download I love NYC.
