since wikipedia wasn't going to let us post info there, i asked jack if i could put one up on the site. i got the same software wikipedia uses off sourceforge, so now we're hosting our own.
unfortunately the logins aren't integrated with our board logins, i dunno how much of a pain that would be to do.
gonzo already started on posting some things last night.

in case you never used wikipedia before - creating a new entry:
search for whatever it is you want. if nothing comes up, it'll say
"No page with this exact title exists, trying full text search. "
with "THIS EXACT TITLE" part as a link. just click on that, put in some info, and click submit, and it will be created.

Just a note, its an opinion so take it as whatever.
I know its all in fun but lets try to keep this kinda semi serious, so if you are editing someones bio, dont be a dick about it and make it into a vendetta or if you hate someone dont erase a bio and just put "he sucks".
I know its hard for us not to turn something into drama, but lets try.

i just read everyones bio and the board history. this is really great and i want to thank gonzo and arpi for putting so much time into this. i'll begin adding some items as well as time goes on. i have total respect for what has already been written, its quite accurate.
would you want to have the uncensored interviews for the various CDIH posters linked?

i think we should put whatever we want about any topics we want, it shouldn't be regulated to board stuff. it should show our views/opinions on different topics.

what i had in mind: a topic like gay marriage
if someone wanted to they could make a gay marriage topic, post a link to the thread, take out key points/quotes/whatever they found interesting, add some more facts that have happened since then.
just an idea...

And I agree with Gonzo, let's try & keep it somewhat serious. There's a ton of forums here to rip into each other, the Wiki should be a reference point not an extension of nonsense & drama.

I think the sound and the fury left an impression...
however.
I guess my presence here wasn't deemed pivotal or significant. I played no role in the development of the board, or in any of the real life drama that has followed these boards....
however much it bruises my ego, I am but a footnote on someone elses story.

i don't think we have to take it THIS seriously.
if it starts where certain "important" sections (like the board history) get out of hand we can lock it just like they do on wikipedia, but sheesh, have some fun with it. the whole point of a wiki, just like with a forum/messageboard, is that the users control the content.

I agree with the notion that if it's not taken serious,
it will soon devolve into something not worth reading.
quality, accurate, and unbiased content is the only thing that will make me read it.

I was completely unbiased in my bios, like I explained the keyser yesterday. My opinion of him personally and my opinion of his contributions to the board are very different.
