One of my greatest fears is loss.
I am totaly terrified of losing the people that are close to me. I think it started when my dad left when I was 6. It was fucking horrible, and worse yet, my mom wouldn't let me see him for 2 years. I hated her for it, and it still bothers me all these years later.
Every time someone moves away or just exits stage left from my life, I just lose it. I go into a deep depression over it, which lasts for several days. I feel like it is my fault, even though it really isn't.
So, what is your greatest fear and how do you deal with it?

i am afraid of fear itself
I love him. He's like those happy old people who become known for sitting by the side of a busy street and waving to passing cars. People drive by regularly and beep just to see him and get him to wave to them.
That's just like our Arpi... except he doesn't wave or anything. He just says mean things to you.

My 2 biggest fears are death by drowning, or death by burning.
I realize that the smoke usually kills you first during a fire, but the thought of seeing/feeling my own flesh melt off my body gives me nightmares.

not drowning in general but any type of suffocation death would be awful, though there are more terrible and slower ways to die.
Like I remember those "Iceman" interviews on HBO with that hitman for the mob who killed like hundreds of people.
he described one way he'd kill people, for his own amusement of course. He'd take them to this cave he knew of and set up a video camera. He'd then leave them there tied up and let the rats eat them alive.
Then he'd come back and pick up the camera, so he could watch the video and loff and loff.

I also hate heights. I went to the Empire State Building with a hottie and I wouldn't move away from the wall no matter what I said. She got this look of disappointment and pity in her eyes that made my manhood shrivel to the size of a pea.

Drowning is supposed to be a really peaceful death.
The oxygen cut off from your brain creates a dreamlike euphoria right before you die.

quicksand.
You're doing something and you think everything is going fine. Then one thing goes wrong. And then another. And another. You try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. Until you can't move... you can't breathe... because you're in over your head. Like quicksand.
Thank you. This has been a public service annoucement brought to you by Ronin, your favorite neighborhood mercenary.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

When I was in Africa, we accidentally walked into a lion's den as he was protecting a kill. We were on foot, and though we had two armed guards with us, I still thought I was going to die when the thing roared at us from 30 feet and took a few steps toward us to scare us off.
It worked, I almost shit myself and now I have nightmares.

Trampling is a big fear. A few years ago my family was on safari to africa and my cousin, was trampled to death by a pack of wildebeasts. We all took it pretty hard. Since then I've worried that I was responsible for it since he was looking for me at the time. It still shakes me up thinking about it all these years later
