one of the advantages of my job, besides getting a 4 day weekend every week is that we're a 24 hour operation, even if I'm not scheduled to work on a holiday, I can always lie and say I am, I've used it more times than I can count to get out of family (and step family) "obligations"

most years I get Thanksgiving off, but this year I'm putting in a few hours, I'll be done by 8am and frankly, I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet, a few beers and possibly a Star Wars marathon (the original three, not the fucking prequels)

i may have to work some holiday weekends while others are free. but i get over 2 months off in the summer. it evens out.
