better
No, I don't like putting earphones in my ear canal. They fall out, and the Bose ones not only don't fall out, but they block out ambient noise dramatically (like the subway) so you don't have to listen to the music as loud and damage your ears.
Plus they are like ear muffs on cold days.
They are magic.

Make no mistake, people will laugh at you. But they aren't as bulky as the older Bose ones or the Sony ones that look like you are working on an airport runway.

I've had the same ones that Dru has, for like 2 or 3 years and I've never had a problem with them. They come with different sized rubber earpieces so if you can't make them fit with any of them, you shouldn't bother with earbuds at all. They cancel out a lot of noise and sounds really good - nice bass and treble response, if you care about that stuff.
The only bad thing (to me) about them is the left & right cord aren't symmetrical, the left is really short & the right is super long - even if you sling it behind the head theres a lot of slack, so I usually just tuck it into my shirt. You can shorten the length of the main cord via a detachable link which is great for cutting down on the cord slack when you put your player in your shirt pocket.
They're $30 on amazon:

originally i bought the ones that apple was offering. i brought them home & tried them & they sounded like absolute shit. i even had other people listen & they all agreed. i messed around with the different sized rubber pieces & nothing was good. when i went to return them to the apple store the genius was just like "yeah these are made for certain shaped ears, if they don't fit you properly, they won't work" so i returned them & went home to research the best ear buds. the fontopia ones were mentioned a lot. i like them a lot. dr. dino is on his second pair though cause when he was living in grenada a rat chewed through the wires of his old pair. lovely country.

I got similar ones like Dru's but for 15 bucks, they're made by Phillips. I too always had an issue with the buds falling out of my ears and never feeling quite comfortable or secure but these newer types are fuckin sweet. Even on the treadmill, doesnt even move.
