It took me beating Jacquou in Dark Sword of Chaos before I could beat him in the original.. bastard!!
the Second one's opening was a masterpiece of 8 bit (or was it 16?? hmm..) cinema and musical orchestration!!

The original is still the only game I ever played that I could not beat. The continue system was beyond fucked up.

I think it was one of the first games where you could switch between weapons and equippment. Like switching from sword to throwing stars or pulling out your grappling hook.
At least I think that's the game your talking about. The one where there were about five different types of throwing stars.

Dammit.. stupid Mac won't play it!!!
Arthur, I think you're thinking Shinobi, you couldn't "switch" weapons, in ninja Gaiden you had a standard and a secondary attack, it played similar to castlevania. There were, is I remember, the straight throwing star, the split in three throwing star, the spinning jump attack, and a few other secondaries. the big thing about Ninja Gaiden is it was the first game with Cinema's attempting to tell a story(that was the big sell when it first came out).. granted, the cinemas were for the most part gigantic 8 bit still images with written lines appearing underneath them as the "dialogue", but still..
