Defrag and scan disk

Quote:I thought XP Pro didn't either - there was no shortcut.
then I found out you had to actually TYPE it in. Amazing.
Mkay, now you're just being a dick. Try to type it in on 2K. You can type it all fucking day, it isn't there. Tool.

By the way, there was never a shortcut to it in any version of Windows. It is cleverly hidden in Windows System Information (msinfo32 if ya wanna type) under the Tools menu. So... :moonie: :fuckoff:

still doesn't work? did you start anything else up while it was running? Running anything else while it is running has potential to fuck it up... even internet explorer writes to disk when it is cacheing items on a web page. Start it up, and take a walk. you gotta let it do it's thing. On a large harddrive that hasn't been optimized in a while, that could take hours. Does it make ANY progress whatsoever? Does it tell you what it's doing? Any indication that process has been interupted? I can't remember if win defrag or norton one tells you when it gets interrupted, and that it's starting over.

To be safe, kill systray too. I always kill systray. SHouldn't have anything to do with it, but what the Hell.. it doesn't hurt.

It starts to scan and/or defrag and on defrag gets to 1 to 2 percent on scan it just goes about 1/3 of the way and keeps restarting, a pop up comes and says that it has restarted 10 times.

Is it possible you may have some sort of software on your pc (such as Norton Utilities) that does this stuff?

actually I wasn't being sarcastic. (see the sarcasm tags WERE a good idea).
it was SELF-deprecating humor - I was the one who couldn't figure it out, and I was making no statement about NT.
Relax :fuggin: :toast: - I'm much more transparent in my tooling.

Oh and Kingpin - did you try both ms defrag and norton speeddisk? does it happen to both?
