i cant connect through aim since i got my router. ive done numerous searches mostly telling me to forward port 5190, but that doesnt work. then i found one saying to forward port 4443. that worked. but only for five minutes and never again. How the fuck can i get this to work!?!?

your router should have an admin that allows you to open ports for various apps. open the port in the admin you have AIM set to use

can't you change the port for AIM?
go into AIM and click on the Sign On/Off. There should be a button on the lower right "connection". click on that and see if it can get to the AIM servers. maybe it will find another port on its own..

IF you have a linksys router this is a widely known problem. Its a problem with when aim sends the connect message to who you want to connect to it tells the other persons computer your ip is the one on your computer not the ones of lets just say your cable modem. So your computers ip is 192.168.1.100 but your cable modems ip which is the one that people need to connect to your is like 24.185.16.167 when that happens they look into almost like space to find you. ITs an error in AIM programing and the people at aol dont seem to be quick to fix it

i want to use the connect feature of aim where you can send pictures and such through the aim window.

hes saying hthat he is able to get onto aim but cannot directly connect to somone on aim to send pictures or talk to someone that type of thing i have hte same exact problem
