My brother just bought PS2, and bought GTA3, but has no other games. I know NOTHING about gaming, so any suggestions? He's going to be 18 if that helps any.
Oh no we took it back to far

So I take it you didn't like FFX? I like cute games like game shows and stuff...do they make that for PS2? I remember when I worked at Software Etc. for the whole month and a had I was there that PS1 had Who Wants to be a Millionare?

For a 18 year old, A safe bet would be Grand Theft Auto 3. Murder, Mayhem, robbery and rape, all for the low, low price of $49.99.

He already bought GTA3, he bought that when he bought the system...he's obsessed with it, but I don't know what a good follow up game would be.

Then try "State of Emergency". Same Game Company, same kind of game.

While all the games that have been mentioned are good, they're single player games that don't really work too well with many people. If he has buddies over, there's nothing better than sports games to pass the time.
I still say there are no good baseball games (though Sean will disagree)
The Madden Series is always the best, but they're going to be coming out with a new came in a few months, so there's really no need in buying the 2002 version that will be outdated very soon.
EASports makes the best games in general, you can't go wrong with anything they do. Just depends on what sports he likes.
Gift certificates are always good too.

i agree with galt in the sense that your best bet is to get your brother a gift certificate so that he can buy whatever game catches his eye

State of Emergency sucks, I loved GTA3 and I hate State Of Emergency. Your best bet is a gift certificate or the latest Madden. You can't go wrong with Madden.
