i don't think we should be hooking up household appliances to our computers until they can figure out how to make them not crash, or have bugs and viruses. i find this whole thing a little scary

I think it's more for an office or dorm environment, and I'm sure that cable is nice and long so you wouldn't get any grease near the CPU.
I never said it made total sense, I just think it would be cool to cook up a burger and shoot nazis at the same time.

its for all those people who can't decide whether to leave the burger on for 8 minutes or 10 minutes. they can just program it and let it go

I seem to remember someone rigged up a device that used the heat his computer generated to boil water, so that's definetly something they could set up.
