So I had to go and copy my keys today so i can give them to the realtor to show my apartment. So the chick from the office comes by to grab the keys and she asks how much it was so she can reimburse me, and I go "10.50" and she goes, "do you have a reciept?" and I go "uhh no" and she starts getting worried and calls her boss to see if she needs a reciept cause she doesn't want to be a victim of that old keys copying scam. She ends up paying me $10. Now that I think about it, I should've said it was $15 and got my self a milkshake with the extra $5.

well generally when you want to be reimbursed you should have a receipt. thats just basic protocol.

they came into my place of business, and I did them a favor. if anything, i should get $10 just for the time i took getting the keys duplicated.

Getting a receipt is not a brain altering activity.
It's common and you will die in a gutter somewhere if you can't manage to bring yourself to do it.

he has to cover his expenses. Were he to spend his principle $10, it would result in a net loss and really drag down the overall ROE of the operation.

that was my exact thought process, I already have a net loss of $0.54 from letting them round down to cover costs.

Of course he's going to buy a milkshake, but the funds are going to come from a different account. The operational and general expenses/slush funds are not co-mingled.
