how do I make windows media player the default player for videos?

use explorer to find the folder the media file is....right click said file...select OPEN WITH - Choose program...select the program (WMP in this case) and place a check in the box which says "always use the selected program to open this kind of file". Thats it.

there is no open with option. I'm running windows 98 if that makes any difference

ok, left click the file once to highlight it, then hold down any shift key and right click the file, select Open with,..follow instrctions above.

i wouldve just said to go into the WMP preferences, but whatever!

my way is generic, you can use it for multiple applications - not just WMP.
