Guitarist says band is ready but Robert Plant tied up until September

TOKYO - Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said Monday he was ready to take the iconic band on a world tour after burning up the stage at last month’s reunion concert in London. But it probably won’t be before September.

“The amount of work we put into O2 was what you would normally put into a world tour anyway,” Page, 64, said of the intense rehearsing the band did for the Dec. 10 concert at London’s O2 Arena.

The band’s three surviving members — Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones — were joined at the sold-out benefit show by the late John Bonham’s son Jason on drums.

Page, who was in Japan to promote the new Zeppelin release, “Mothership,” said the two-hour-plus concert was proof that Led Zeppelin can still perform at its best.

He said the band, which formed in 1968, was ready musically to get back together and take it out on a wider run, but it was not clear when it would go on tour as the singer had other plans.

“Robert Plant has a parallel project and he is busy with that until September,” Page said.

Plant and bluegrass star Alison Krauss will begin their world tour with a run of shows in the southern U.S. this spring. The two released an album in October called “Raising Sand” that debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard chart in the U.S. The duo will tour Europe in May before returning for North American shows still to be announced for June and July.

Page said the band set their standards very high before agreeing to do the reunion, their first in 20 years. Led Zeppelin broke up in 1980 after the elder Bonham’s death.

Page said they rehearsed for weeks, apprehensive that the cohesion they had in the 1970s when they were at their peak might be hard to rediscover.

“We wanted people who might not have even been alive in 1980 when we finished to understand what we were,” he said.

Page said all went well until he broke a finger in three places, forcing the band to postpone the show for several weeks.

“But we did the show, and it was great,” he said. “It was instant in terms of chemistry.”

I'd go to this if it was relatively affordable, the O2 performance sounded great & the clips I saw looked good.

"Set It Off" by Organized Noise...

Do we look
Where is love
Has it gone
Do we search or move on
Feel the wind, as it blows
And my heart
Says the next time I'll know

Chorus:
Set it off, I suggest y'all
Set it off, I suggest y'all
Set it off
C'mon now, set it off
Set it off on the left y'all
Set it off on the right y'all
Set it off
C'mon now, set it off

Holdin' on
Friends around
All together
Searchin' for a way out
When it's time, will we know?
Or will life, grant us no second tries

Chorus

(Now it's too late to work it out)
Now it's too late to work it out
I'm in too deep to just pull out
(There ain't no way I'll walk away)
There ain't no way I'll turn away
Nothin to do but set it off

Chorus

Me hear police, them a chat about me just one time
Me live the life, love money - that's 2 crimes
What will be my destiny, ay ay?
Me say silly of me to think that I could ever get away with crime
What will I do?

[Latifah:]
Hey, when they come for you
Check it
I ain't got nowhere to go, nothing to lose - I'm lost
Who rotten but Cleo?
Hot like ultra reels
Wit my back to the wall, I put my gat on not dog
Replace your playa's ball wit the 911 call
Situations I've been in got me capable of sinnin'
You grinnin'?
Watch me speed-stick yo' *** like Mennon
Lettin' it off, settin' it off and beginnin'
Pinnin' these ill rhymes, representin' ill women
In April 2002, Singleton murdered Tynisha Ysais in her apartment while under the influence of PCP. Her boyfriend Thomas Moore testified that he and Singleton spent the evening prior to the murder smoking PCP, also known as Angel Dust.

The victim was found in her apartment by her friend Alisa Allen. Her chest had been torn open and a three-inch blade was found broken off in her shoulder blade. Teeth marks were found on her face and lungs, which had been torn from her chest. Eyewitnesses reported that when Singleton was picked up by police, he was naked in the middle of the street, covered in blood and staring at the sky. A medical examination performed shortly after his capture found human flesh in his stomach which was not his own.
On November 7, 2003, he was sentenced to life in prison. The court ruled that his intoxication and plea of insanity were not satisfactory reasons for committing the crime.

1.	Apparently the newest fashion craze sweeping young(er than me) chicks is to wear huge, square-framed sunglasses that cover 90% of their face. There’s not even any point for them to wear make-up with these things since nobody can see their face anyway (but of course they still do). These are the type of glasses that my grandparents and their morbidly elderly friends wore in the mid 80’s. They were ridiculous then, and they’re even more ridiculous now. My initial reaction was to feel like I was getting old. Then I realized it’s just another manifestation of the rest of the world getting stupider.

2.	B-Jörk has the fucking cutest accent I have ever heard. Also, I will eventually download all of her music because, no matter what the situation is, it will always put me right to sleep.

3.	Adam Morrison is a lot shorter in person. He passed right in front of my face and I didn’t realize it was him because he looked more like 6’2 than 6’8. He was wearing a Dodgers hat and was more baked than I was. A couple of people confirmed it was indeed him; otherwise I would have just passed it off as a shorter, higher look-alike.

4.	Seeing as how the festival was comprised of 60,000 hippies, there was a staggering amount of littering going on. I knew something was out of whack when I was one of the few people that actually used the (plentiful) garbage pails.
5.	No beverage, alcoholic or not, is worth paying $7 for 12 oz.
6.	Sunblock really works!

7.	Taking a 3 minute piss in a porta potty with one hand on your cock and the other trying to hold the door shut, all while hearing sirens circling nearby, is a truly surreal experience.

8.	Walking 7 miles in flip flops through dirt and sand in 105° heat is NOT cool.

9.	Walking 7 miles in socks and sneakers through dirt and sand in 105° heat is NOT much better.

10.	Next time I spend the time, money, and energy to go to one of these things, I’m going to make sure to at least see one band that I like.

LONDON, England (AP) -- Keith Richards has acknowledged consuming a raft of illegal substances in his time, but this may top them all -- assuming it's not a joke.

In comments published Tuesday, the 63-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist said he had snorted his father's ashes mixed with cocaine.

"The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father," Richards was quoted as saying by British music magazine NME.

"He was cremated, and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared," he said. "... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."

Richards' father, Bert, died in 2002, at 84.

Richards' manager has told MTV the story about the guitarist snorting his father's ashes is not true, and was said as a joke.

Richards, one of rock's legendary wild men, told NME that his survival was the result of luck, and advised young musicians against trying to emulate him.

"I did it because that was the way I did it. Now people think it's a way of life," he was quoted as saying.

"I've no pretensions about immortality," he added. "I'm the same as everyone ... just kind of lucky.

"I was No. 1 on the 'who's likely to die' list for 10 years. I mean, I was really disappointed when I fell off the list," Richards said.
