Hey Gonzo, trying to steal my job? ;)

Seriously, I am in the process of changing my career, so I might be interested. I am trying to become a Network Administrator/Analyst/Engineer. I know there are definitely a few on the board that are techies.

I have been trying, but not one interview yet! :(

Web-development is definitely the way to go based on the talent pool that we have here, it was the original intention for Over The Limit, and it seems to be what everyone is good at and interested in.

I still even have the executive summary that I wrote up for it. Never finished the business plan though.

Hosting? Design? Which end? I think that design would be the place to start because hosting is some big bucks in server cost to start. It could be something added later. All that redundancy can get expensive.
What about start up costs in general?

Well, Froy, I did have a course for Microsoft IIS, and I learned Front Page for website development. I would be willing to offer my limited talents.

I just need a damn job in computers, something I have loved since I was a TEEN! Yeah, computers were just starting out then!

I agree that we have strong computer/graphic design/internet here, but that's along the lines I was thinking anyway.

As for slacking, people slack more when they don't love what they do. I'm a slacker too, and I'm all for a relaxed, happy atmosphere, but I figure as long as people are willing to meet hard deadlines, then they can chill and work at their own pace if that's how they like to work.

In the consulting business, there are two schools of thought... specialize in one thing, or have a broad spectrum. Different companies will find the appeal in both types.

A company that can design and build your website, while at the same time providing you with IT support... sounds like a hot commodity to me. Lots of companies (like mine) like a company that can do more than just one thing for them. They draw up a contract with you, and want as much as they can get out of it.

And I know there are more developers *and* IT guys on this board that haven't checked in yet..

Click here if you're bored enough to email me.

When I worked for NJB (New Jersey Bell) there were 13 of us."I" was the only one who volunteered to type the first ISDN order in NJ.Took me and another person to get it through the system. The thrill 3 days later when it finally did.I had to report to my super why I wasn't meeting my 200 page quota a day.She felt like shit she had no idea that I was the one who inputted that mess. From that day on I had to sit with my co-workers (cough) and train THEM how to do it.I was up for supervisor but we know how the f'en phone company works. When I did leave, they had asked people who retired or left to come back to clear up the billing system.Guess who was a substitute supervisor when ours wasn't in.(3 days a week).Gotta love a challenge!!! ;)

Like I said earlier Jon, I think it is a good idea...I have plenty of sales and marketing experience to get the word out about the business. I know the ins and outs of building a business as well...I agree we should all get together sometime and seriously talk about the potential....

I'd definately be interested if there is a spot for me.

I know a fair amount about computers, but by my own admission, I'm no genius. Basically, whatever spot I can fill if any, I'd most likely be willing to do.

I can help with the books, record keeping and banking...I've been working with business accounts for years...so if you have questions or anything just let me know :)

Froy did you say you already have the articles of incorporation and the corporate resolutions? A business plan won't take long to establish once you've decided on the company's primary focus and held a few brain storming sessions...

I was actually thinking of starting my own thing. PC Repair/tech support, sofware/windows instruction. Lets do something. If not, anyone know a decent place to look for entry level tech support?

Is there a place for me?

I sure hope so!
