My father passed away almost 4 years ago, Dec 0f 97, and I still miss him, every day I wonder how he would feel, would he be proud, would he be happy with who I have become? I will never know, but someday, I will see him again. Happy fathers day to all the daddys out there.

A few simple words for you Dad!
God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you and whispered,
"COME TO ME"
So with tearful eyes we watched you go,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands lay at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
That he only takes the BEST.

Thank you for that poem Kim, I enjoyed it so much, and it touched me so much that I copied it and sent it to my father! While we may not get along, I still do care about him.

Happy fathers day to all the dads on the board!!

As Grumpy said, there are a lot of us that haven't had the best relationship with their fathers...I love my father, but ya know, I really wish he was more like a dad and less like a sperm donor. I see some of you do have some good times with dad, or fond memories...treasure those, because a good family life is something that is hard to view in the proper perspective unless you don't have it.

To my stepfather:

You walked into my life after I was already a man, but you have in these last seven years been more of a patriarch to this family than my father ever could have been. You are the second best thing that has ever happened to my mother. You have been there to support her when I could not be. When my sister gets into her many predicaments, you are always there to lend an ear, issue discipline, and heal the wounds. You give with all your heart and ask nothing in return. You are the man I hope to be someday, and while nature and the law may not say so, I am proud to call you dad. Happy father's Day!

Reign, great poem!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who feels he had a great dad.
He taught me so many things, things that I never knew I was learning until later in life when they became necessary tools. Unfortunately, he never got to see me employ his wisdom.
I am really not one to dwell on this topic, but I am sorry that my dad never got to meet my great wife nor personally share in my adult accomplishments.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads!

hello all.
This is my first post on this board. However I have been reading these threads for a while now and felt I needed to speak up.

Like many others I came to this board looking for an extension to the O&A show..But all of you came down on this "kidafrica" for what he posted in this thread. My point is this....if this dude that posted this thread called up O&A and spouted off that same crap that he did on this board he would have got alot worse then what Kidafrica gave him.

Now I know this is an off topic section but does that mean we have to be "off personality" as well?
I mean christ this is a board that was created by fucking COMEDY RADIO SHOW....why are you people here??????

answer me this.....how come the off topic section has more posts then any other section?? Why dont all you people go to an aol chat room or something if you want to "express your feelings"??

As far as I can tell one of the only people that is mirroring the O&A wit and ruthless unforgiving humor is kidafrica.

The problem with all you board geeks is that you somehow think this is reality...it is not. And for those of you that feel that way I truly pity you. You seem to think that a remark made by someone on a message board is really gonna effect who you are or something....YOU ALL NEED TO FUCKING RELAX and get a sense of humor.

FLYNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are really new to this board, that is apparent by your post so you had no need on mentioning it. Secondly, for us regulars on here we have gotten to know one another off of this "message board" as Gonzo mentioned in his post. We have had tear jerking chats and toasts to about everything and everyone on almost a weekly basis. At least once a day one of us is on the phone or seeing someone from this board. Sometimes, I feel closer to people like Gonzo then I do about my own brothers. So, take your horse shit of an attitude off this board. You are not wanted or needed here. I have attempted to be nicer and kinder to newbies but you are a blatant asshole and deserve NO kindess from me. So go fuck yourself - you had no right to defile this heart felt thread you loser.

And I am curious to know how many times you have been banned already??

Happy Father's Day Daddy

You always look out for me, give me advice, and I appreciate it so much. You work so hard, and provide so much. Our house is such a home. I love you and I hope you know it. I can be a pain, but I want to make you proud, and be as good to my kids (eventually) as you are to me.

Good topic Grumpy!

How's that working out for you, being clever?

Now, for my addition to this wonderful thread:

Almost everything I have learned in my life was from you. However, for everything I learned by your good example there was something I learned by your bad examples.

Your bad examples taught me that cheating is bad and lying is worse. That there is nothing more sacred than marriage and nothing is worth loosing it. That you have to make time to see your kids in school plays because being tinker bell in the 4th grade is something they always remember and not having you in the audiance is the one thing they will never forget. I learned that when drinking it is necessary to be responsible. I learned that no lie is worth telling and no truth is worth holding back. I learned that independence at 18 is a good thing and should not be discouraged. I learned wearing black socks with brown sandles to Seaside is embaressing and that I should never let my husband wear that cause it makes the kids embaressed. I learned that when you are under oath you should tell the truth - regardless. I learned that you shouldn't have violent fights with your spouse ever - especially infront of a 3 year old (it's something they never forget). I learned that for all your faults I still love you because if not for you I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't be who I am.

Your good examples taught me that early morning fishing at 5 years old is the best experience a kid can have. I learned how to grow a great garden and know exactly when and when not to pick fruit off of a tree and how to make home made wine from our grape vines. You taught me that being human is about learning from my mistakes and others. You taught me that what is not mine is not for me to take and what is mine is for me to share. You taught me that nothing smells more beautiful than fresh cut grass on a crisp spring morning. You taught me that flowers in my hair make me pretty even when my nose is all puffy from my first kindergarten fight. You taught me that if my children's lifestyle differs from my beliefs that I should still accept them. I learned that nothing made me prouder than to have you at my wedding. I learned that last summer watching you on our dock fishing at 5 in the morning bought back the most serene memories of my childhood and I thank you for that. I learned that regardless of your schedule these days you still make it a point to call me every other day. I learned that in your old age you have become wise and have learned from you errors and I love you for that more than words can say. The past can't be erased and I am never looking for any type of payback because the simple fact that you learned what I learned in the last 27 years from all your faults is a good thing. I am proud of you. I learned that for all my faults you still love me too.

I am glad you weren't picture perfect. You always told me it is best to learn from other's mistakes because you will never live long enough to learn it all from your own.

Happy Father's Day Daddy on this coming Sunday and on everyday. And Happy Father's Day, also to my husband who is a wonderful father to his blue eyed girl and rugged little boy. Your children adore you Anthony and so do I.

some shit has been going down personally so i havent been on in a while...... i am glad i logged in today though because i had the opportunity to read this thread. grumpy you totally struck a cord with me dude. heres why:

my father and i have never really been close. mom and dad divorced when i was 2 and we moved to far away after that. as a result i grew up fatherless. my mom is a good woman. she has always sacrificed herself for my happines.

My son was born on july 11 last year and he is the most amazing creation. i have heard it before but now i understand how one never knows what true love is until he or she has children. not only is he a piece of cake to raise (another blessing) but he is the happiest baby i have ever kknown. grumpy, those lessons taught to you by your dad were lessons that i once was taught or learned along the way. now i am 28 and seeing them again reminds me of the task i have ahead of me raising my little boy (and any other children my wife and i are to be blessed with)

happy fathers day to you man. thanks for the words.

I would like to wish my father a Happy Father's Day. I have screwed up and done a couple of stupid things iin my life and my father has always been there to get me out of a jam. No matter what it was he was always there to help me out. My father has given me much advice and help when needed. And even more when not needed or wanted. But in the end he was always right anyway. Father knows best...I'm surprised i have not given him another heartattack with all the crap i have put him through. He has a bad heart and it scares me to death thinking that he won't be around much longer. All want is for him to be around to see me get married and to hold his first grandchild. Just to see the smile on his face and the look in his eyes would make me the happiest person...I love you dad.. Happy Father's Day!

Welcome to my demented world.
