Anyone remember the horror story about a lady find out that a Rat was used in place of the meat for her McRib sandwich?
As for Taco Bell, You DON'T want to find out what they do with all the excess crap on the counter after 7 hours of it just sitting there. I found out the hard way, and treid to force the employee to eat it by stuffing it down his throat.
This is why I will only eat at my local deli. At least I know how they're handling my food.

A HUGE FU to all of you for this...I woke up this morning with a terrible craving for fast food and now I can't even fathom drinking water I feel so queasy. :(

By the way, I used to work in a movie theater and the stories I could tell would also make you head spin.

I remember my days working at Roy Rogers. The rolls used to be delivered between 5 and 6 in the morning, unfortunately nobody showed up till about 7. It was a pretty cool site watching them being attacked by seagulls. At least the top layer was thrown away.

Filzy, as for the local deli, though this did happen in Newark, when I first started attending college went to a deli. A worker came out from the back holding a dead rat in his bare hands, threw it in the garbage outside, then went behind the counter, wiped his hands with a dirty rag, and proceeded to start slicing meat. Ran out of the place, never to return again.

Many years ago, I worked in a popular spot named Linck's Log Cabin, in Centerport. NY. We had a 3 second rule in the kitchen. If you dropped some food on the floor, but picked it up within 3 seconds, it was still good. Uneaten vegtables went back into the pot.

Ok here is one of a possible many movie theater stories to follow:

I used to work in the biggest movie theater in Brooklyn (those of you who know the area are now shuddering knowing you have been there) and it was infested with mice and roaches. In the morning when we would turn on the soda machines and run them, fruit flies would swarm out of the faucets, and inside the machines themselves were about 30 (give or take) roaches. The mice would get into the candy and chew their way through the boxes and also the bulk candy bags. We would throw away the candy that was in the boxes because it was obvious that they had been eaten, but since bulk candy was coming out of the bag and being sold by the pound, we would just dump the candy in the bins teeth marks and all. The mice would also get into the popcorn and the popcorn bins as well. Once we had a dead mouse in the bin and left it in there and just left the warmer off to avoid an obvious smell. When we were popping popcorn, if we spilled a bag of seeds (which happened often) we would just sweep them up pretend to throw them away, bring them in the kitchen and bring them back out again after the people went away.

Well thats all I have for now....anyone want to know about the hotdogs, pizza and pretzels? :)

If you drop something on the floor, and no customers see it, it never actually hit the floor. Pick it up and carry on as usual.

Well I am on my way out, so the story won't be too long...so here is the short version...

Hotdogs that fall on the floor always go back on the grill. The hotdogs were never kept refrigerated during the day, no matter how hot the weather was, and flies and other bugs would land on them etc. If hotdogs were left over at night, they were simply reheated in the morning regardless of how old or discolored they were. Sometimes hotdogs went bad and turned green, so we just cooked them longer to hide the color. Ooh...and when we were in bad moods sometimes we would dip hot dogs in window cleaner prior to cooking. :)

More to follow, but I want to go out today.. :)

Note to self: Never buy food at Sheepshead Bay UA theater again.

I used to work in a fancy catering hall on Long Island. God help the person that complained about the food or the service, he may as well have taken a drink out of a spitoon.

same goes for the BUTCHER SHOP

& we had sawdust on the floor & shit. we would drop something & just rince it off til all the visible saw dust was gone. & then just sell it like nothing happened.

Hey Ballon, find any beebees in the Beef as a butcher?

There was a whole rash of that over here in monmouth county. Some of the supermarkets had beef with beebees sold and they knew it.

So what's everyones problem here? McDonalds is under the same pressure as everyone else to market new products.

Comming Monday to McDonalds Dollar Menu. The McMaggot Sandwich. Two all maggot patties, special secretion sauce, cheese, lettuce, pickles an a mouse droppings bun. :-(

i hope those chips are not from a bar. you know that all the chips or pretzles in a bar shold just be taken as a garnish or somthing like that. they should never be eaten

I worked at Wendy's for 3 years while in High School...Oh the things I saw!

One of the guys I worked with pissed in the lemonade because he was mad at the manager

On one occasion I watched a manager drop a whole pot of chilli on the floor and then scrape it back up into the pot and served it

We had a girl drop a box of salt into the top of a frosty machine and just continued on with whatever she was doing

A manager made us pick mold spots off of hamburger buns and serve them

The salad bar was left up all night with just ice put over it--this was in the middle of the summer and we weren't allowed to keep the air on over night either

We had 2 employees fired for having sex on the front counter after hours (we found a used condom in the bottom of the ice bin the next day (apparently the person filling it didn't look before he was put ice into it)

One of the kids I worked with dipped a cutomers hamburger into the grease bucket, dried it off a little and served it

We had a manager spill dirty mop water all over a box of fresh lettuce - she told us to dry it off and use it -- it wouldn't hurt anyone

We had mice and it wasn't unusual to see them run across the dining room after hours


I could go on and on...

Well, my tales have come from pure experience - I actually worked in all three establishments that I reported on. In regards to Burger King, those stories were tame in comparison to the things we would actuially do when we got bored or pissed off while working (funbags reminded me through her post). For example, we used to use a metal polish called Shelia Shine (I don't know why, thats what the label said it was) to polish the freezers and work areas that were made of metal. Anyway, we were bored once, and we thought what a burger bun would look like if we "polished" it. Suffice it to say, it had a nice shine - it actually looked pretty good. And yes, we served it up - so someone out there ate a burger with a slight taste of lemon polish.

Also, we would put powdered Tide (the choice of excellent floor cleansers at my particular Burger King) in the mayo tubs just to fuck with people - we were basically pissed, and thought if someone noticed it and complained, the restaurant would be fined and eventually fail a health inspection or something - funny thing is, noone ever said a word. So, several people ate whoppers and had a very "clean" burger. What do you expect from overworked underpaid fast-food employees?

I never worked in a movie theater, but I have heard stories of people pissing in the hot cheese sauce that comes with the taco-chips. Nowadays, the sauce comes in a little packaged cup that they heat in a microwave, but when they first started being served, they used to scoop it out of a heated vat into the designated section of the tray that they serve the chips on - I never got them, and whether or not that was true of my particular theater, I'm glad I never did.

The bottom line here people - most of you who have read this have all eaten this food, and some most likely will again - unless you know of a particular instance where something like this happened, or if you ever actually saw it, you would just assume that the food you order is safe to eat - the old "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. I used to get a lot of shit working at fast food joints (theres really nothing else for a 15-17 year old to do here on Staten Island), but looking back, I'm so glad I did. The shitty amount of funds that I earned in these places pales in comparison to the knowledge I gained of the inner workings of these establishments. They all follow the same credo - waste nothing, sell everything. Most people think a McDoinalds or burger King is better because its corpparate owned, as oppossed to a mom-and-pop place (for cleanliness and freshness), but in reality, its the total opposite.

OK, who's up for some Diner food now? LOL

Thats not the answer to the food problem - if these places wanted to insure the quality and integrity of the chain, they would hire better management, and be a lot more hands-on in the day to day dealings. I was management in all three restaurants (worked my way up), and I can tell you that unless its a suit from the main office running the show, this stuff will continue to go on. Hell, if anything, raising the minimum wage would only entice more sickos to work there LOL
