Are they gonna be on stage? uhm... no. Short of being in Rage Against the Machine and scaling a part of the set during a Limp Bizkit acceptance speech, what they hell would you expect them to do? Hold up wow signs the whole night? Start Boogaloogaloo chants?(Hey.. that's a good idea actually). Seriously... I bet 99.9% of the people who are gonna be there have no idea who they are anyway. O and A will go, hang out, make fun of people, go home, and talk about it tomorrow. That's it. Don't expect any performance halting stunts... I could only hope for something to happen to make me eat my words, but come on.. what would they do? seriously.

It will probably non-eventful (unless they have something up their sleeves) but going to a place with famous people abound can only help attract attention. Too bad Britney isn't going. Here is the NYPOST article from yesterday: September 5, 2001 -- Claws out over Britney's cats ANIMAL rights activists are baring their fangs at Britney Spears over the preening pop tart's plans to appear onstage with live cheetahs at this week's MTV Awards. Following reports that Spears plans to perform her orgasmic-sounding new song "I'm A Slave 4 U" at the awards tomorrow at Lincoln Center with four live cheetahs, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) fired off a letter asking her to desist from such supposedly cruel punishment of innocent felines. *NSYNC, Michael Jackson, U2 and Alicia Keyes are also performing at the gala event. "We hope you'll open your heart to the plight of captive ‘wild' animals caged and forced to tolerate bright lights, crowds, and frightening levels of noise," PETA's Dan Mathews writes - not to mention their being forced to listen to Spears' caterwauling at close range. "Cheetahs used in show business are often trained through intimidation and with such devices as electric shock prods and sticks," Mathews writes. "Whippings, beatings, and starvation are common methods used to break the spirit of free-roaming, independent animals." Mathews also grumbles that Spears' plan is not only cruel, it's unoriginal. "[A] few years ago, Janet Jackson planned to use a black panther onstage during a concert tour," Mathews writes. "After she learned how frightening and stressful this would be for the cat, she agreed that it was wrong and did not go through with it." If the stressed-out, snarling cheetahs don't make a memorable impression, Spears' number "Slave 4 U" should provide tawdry titillation. As PAGE SIX reported two weeks ago, the sexy strumpet pants, grunts, and moans so seductively during the hip-hop-tinged track that one spy says she sounds like she's "simulating an orgasm." Though the song, produced by white-hot knob twisters The Neptunes, is supposedly about Britney being a slave to music, when the scantily-clad sexpot purrs, "I'm a slave for you . . .
