Saturday morning between 10:30 and 11 am, Channel 2 aired a news conference with NY Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik on the status of the city.

Channel 5 was airing the funeral for former NYFD Chaplain Michael Judge.

Channels 4 and 7 were airing what appeared to look like town meeting-like forums.

Channel 9 simulcasted Fox News. (Channel 5 did until the Judge funeral started.)

And what was Channel 11 airing? "Pokemon".

juice has a point.there are tons of channels covering the news, with the ghastly images that can give grown men nightmares, let alone kids.its good for at least one channel to have somthing that the kids can watch

Can you blame them? Kids don't need to see death after death after death after death. News organizations have been covering this all week and even I want a break from the horrid reality of this. A Simpsons rerun perhaps? But let the kid have some semblenace of a childhood return instead of forcing them to see this again. Give them other programming that can cause them, and us, to just have that brief return to our old lives.

Hey at least u people can watch those channels. I can only get ch2, ch, 50, ch 58, (both are the same anyway) ch 25, and ch 68. Everything ese that used to be able to watch, like ch 11, or UPN, or FOX, or even NBC. I cant anymore cuz of the towers ebing destroyed. After the first one got hit, those stations went down. at least for me anyway.

I'd watch Pokemon if it were on... just to see something different.

I'm not letting them think they've won,

None of the network channels want to be the first to go back to regular programing. They must be afraid it will make them look bad.

At first that upset me, but you know what? Kids NEED to see something different, parents need to see something different.

Anf, honestly, there's been NO news for awhile. I'd rather see more channels go back to normal so this way the remaining ones wouldn't feel the need to try and "scoop" the competition by airing rumors or false reports.

At first I was like "what the hell...?" but then I actually began to watch whatever it was that was on and I felt a little bit better....it was nice not having to see the WTC being hit from 7 different angles. Some other stations have been airing healing specials rather than the news...I saw that Oprah was on Channel 7 late last night and there was something on Channel 4 this morning for children dealing with this. I think it is good that a child home from school today has something to watch on t.v. that won't make them cry. What I don't agree with is the fact that they are playing regular programming, I think perhaps they should play more cartoons or family comedies.

same here. when i first heard the wwf actually went on with their show i was kinda pissed but then when i realized the only other thing on tv basically was the news, i changed my mind. it's about time the channels start switching away from their 24 hours of news coverage. i hope this doesn't come out wrong but i can't take watching the news anymore. i give credit to ch. 11 for giving the kids something else to watch and try and take their minds off of what is going on.

others might say you're wrong steve but I don't. Hell I think the way you do, I even posted about it on RF.net. There's 24 hours of the same thing, no new developments, no new news. Just seeing more wreckage and more bodies and more tears and more horror. It's just draining and repetitive and if something new happens I'd prefer an interruption during a show like Family Guy or Simpsons or even FRIENDS more than just seeing the same footage over and over again on a sadistic loop.

You guys may feel sick of the coverage, but that doesn't excuse WPIX. They NEVER pre-empt for special news coverage unless it's a parade and that's SPONSORED. They're only in it for the money even now when they're network.

I was at my grandparent's house today, and they don't have cable. I was hoping that no one was going to turn on the tv. someone did, and that led to an hour of uncomfortable conversation. I need something else on tv already, because its a little bit too much for me emotionally with the people looking for the missing relatives. You see that they want to believe, but are just cracking, and it kills me.

My grandmother always said, "Why buy the cow, when you can get the sex for free."
I've got the Dungeon Master's Guide. I've got a 12-sided die. I've got Kitty Pryde, and Nightcrawler too, Waiting there for me...Yes I do, I do. I've got posters on the wall. My favorite rock group Kiss. I've got Ace Frehley, I've got Peter Criss, Waiting there for me...Yes I do,I do. In the garage, I feel safe. No one cares about my ways. In the garage, Where I belong...No one hears me sing this song. In the garage, I've got an electric guitar. I play my stupid songs. I write these stupid words...and I love every one... Waiting there for me... Yes I do, I do. He's ordinary!

The television new coverage is getting to be a bit much. Just wait 'til the war starts. The new fall line up may never begin.

Eventually we have to move on, I am sort of getting sick of the coverage on TV.

I got no problem with channel 1 going back to airing regular programming. BUT their 11 o'clock movie was "taking care of business" with Jim Belushi where he escapes from jail to go to a Cubs game. Like we haven't seen enough tragedy, we have to see movie disasters too? i dunno what is making me sicker the movie on channel 11 or wolf blitzer doing his best walter cronkite impression on CNN?

i never seen that but i was watching my program listing at 8:30 and saw that it was on at 9am. I wanted to watch it but forgot about it cause there were two great Steve Mcqueen movies on. I have been watching news since tuesday morning and this morning was the 1st time i watched anything else. I simultaneously watched Papillon on TNT and The Getaway on cinemax, Steve McQueen is the action god!!!!

Another thing about this. What about the "soccer moms" bitching about Junior hearing fuck or shit on the air? They haven't said word one about seeing this destruction and horror. What's potentially more damaging to little Jimmy- round the clock coverage of this obscenity or hearing an obscene word or two?
