| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | I lost respect for Stern when he was on Larry King a few years ago. For days before the interview on CNN Howard was talking about all the things he was going to say, how he was going to bring up King's lies about Sandy Koufax, and a ton of other things he was going to stick to Larry King. I was looking forward to the interview so much. Then the interview came up, and Howard was a complete Kiss-ass. It was like an Arsenio Hall interview. Complete bullshit. This was when his movie was coming out, and he had that "nice guy" persona.  | ||||

If O&A happen to say something "bad" about Howard Stern, and Howard's ratings drop, he can sue O&A regardless of whether the two are related. It's a stupid game for people who think too much of themselves, but it's the way this world works. Suing someone is much easier than getting your ass off the couch to go find a job to support yourself, ya know? | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 01 | My position is this. Stern is great. O&A are great. There is nothing more I'd like to hear than a war of words between the two shows. It's obvious that they hate each other. However, Stern is THE BOSS of infinity. And I feel that his positon is a valid one when it concerns the mentioning of his name. Hired DJ'S and personalities however talented or otherwise could just go on the air and bad mouth Howard and get ratings. Stern's fan base and popularity would therefore be used to make other people money and gain them popularity where they would otherwise be unable to do so on their own. O&A have managed to gain popularity and success on their own unique programing style. They have there differences with Stern and would probably like to bring them out into the open on the air. Who wouldn't want to hear this?! This is the kind of radio that made Stern as popular as he is today. It's fun and entertaining. But this action would definitely (i feel) increase their ratings and popularity, but would not be fair to Stern. He didn't build his kingdom to indiscriminately make other people more money and more famous. O&A are doing just fine doing what their doing. Sterns policy might not seem fair on the surface, but it does serve a purpose. I don't think Stern is afraid to take on anyone. He's got brass balls. If you've listened to him as much as I have (over ten years) you'd know this. If he decides to treat certain guests "diplomatically" then you can bet he has a damn good reason. After all he's done and accomplished he doesn't owe anyone any explainations or appologies. Nobody fucks with Dice, Dice does the fuckin! | ||||

They are also the bosses of O&A's bosses. From them came the reinstatement of the rule that says talking about Stern = dump out of show. O&A can talk about Howard all they want - only 10 people on hold will hear it. The rest will hear a dump, and if there's enough talk of Howard, they'll hear Van Halen. Dumping takes away from the show, makes it harder to follow, generally is bad for the listeners. And why bother talking if no one will even hear it? But ste, if you think Stern's not the King Of All Hypocrites, you're more brainwashed than I ever thought you were. Would you like to tell everyone how Stern got so popular? That's right - he took on Imus. Imus was the big guy at the time. Imus would badmouth Howard, Howard would badmouth Imus. This made Imus fans tune over to Howard to see what he'd say next. In doing so, they found that they actually enjoyed the show, and stopped listening to Imus altogether. Howard knows this very well. Howard also knows that if he were to get into a war with another show, O&A for example, it would only get more people to tune into O&A. But instead of getting into a war, he takes the pussy way out. He knows that the war will only drive up ratings for O&A, and such a war will make people realize that O&A do much better radio... cause then people might get bored of Stern and stop listening. Basically he's using his power as the Infinity cash cow to delay the inevitable. He's going down, and sooner or later it won't take a war to get it to happen.  | ||||

But the day I lost the most respect for O&A came the day their contracts ran out and they were allowed to talk about howard again. Now finally after all those many months of being bound by a gag order and not being able to say his name. After countless threats and countless times of hearing "if only we could say his name or talk about him we'd show him." After talking a good fuckin game after the anticipation on how anthony would show howard up. What happens.... Jay Mohr is the only person the whole day to say boo about Howard. What is O&A's defense? "Why waste the show bashing Howard, that is not entertaining." It's not? well fuckin really, I dunno about you guys but I'd find it entertaining that when you finally weren't bound by a contractual clause to hear you fight back after over a year of being tied down. Yeah it's not what you guys do? What about after syndication bashing the boston station? Wasn't that under your rules not entertaining? But you did it and you did it for a very long time, that was when i stopped listening. When in my book yes you guys did sell us out. There was a point when I could never picture missing a show and after hearing the countless complaints I don't miss it much. What I do miss is two fuckin funny guys who didn't try to entertain but just did. Once you start trying and searching for the truth it will never come to you. I think things got a little questionable on the show when the guys started thinking that they decide whats entertaining, when, in actuality, WE decide whats entertaining. The day they started actually trying, It began to sound forced. God loves you.it's everyone else that thinks you're an asshole. Posting regularly,yet still a lowly lurker. | ||||

But early 2001 I believe or maybe late 2000. Adam Ferrara showed up and so did jim bruer and they spent the day talking about Long Island, day strippers, wrestling, sex, high school gym class, and my favorite was the honeymooners discussion. It was pure it wasn't forced and it was great. I am not saying that has to be the show. You need big events like homeless shopping and other stuff. But the last few contests I can remember have been best ass, best boobs and now naughty nightie. Just hot chick contests under different names. The purity and innocense is gone in my opinion, I am not saying he everyone stop listening cause I can NOT judge the show as of late cause I have not listened in atleast 4 months now. But I am tired of them being held up in light as golden gods who can do no wrong. That is what boxing did with Mike Tyson and what stern fans did with howard. I'm Deep Inside Your Children.
