Simply put O and A have changed since Syndication..If you remember the first few months after Philly the show was different then we were used to in NY before...I think the guys have done a good job of adapting to the new markets and a totally new audience..There will always be the idiots out there who still don't get it..

No doubt.

KNOW YOUR DOPE FIEND. YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT! You will not be able to see his eyes because of Tea-Shades, but his knuckles will be white from inner tension and his pants will be crusted with semen from constantly jacking off when he can't find a rape victim. He will stagger and babble when questioned. He will not respect your badge. The Dope Fiend fears nothing. He will attack, for no reason, with every weapon at his command--including yours. BEWARE. Any officer apprehending a suspected marijuana addict should use all necessary force immediately. One stitch in time (on him) will usually save nine on you.

I been thinking the same thing lately. I don't know if this is what you were talking about but, I have noticed a few changes.

Instant Feedback used to be a huge part of the show. Now you hardly ever hear them read any on the air outside of WDILT. Obviously, playing to a national audience, they can't spend too much time on NY IF's but, Instant Feedback is available to everyone. Just thought that was a pretty big part of the show that seems to have dwindled since syndication.

Also, the Stinky CAM. That thing used to be on all day every day when it was the "spaz cam". Then they had some technical problem excuse for it to be off for about a year. It's apparently working now but, how often do they bother to turn it on? I realize that it's a "radio" show and not TV but, I for one think it's pretty cool to get a look at what's goin on in the studio even when there aren't naked women running around. When there are naked women in the studio and they don't turn it on is appalling to say the least.

And, I hate harp on the New Orleans thing but that was one super shitty show. Made even worse by the previous day. They cut to commercial around 4:30 or 5:00 and never returned. Went to "worst of" reruns for the rest of the day. I realize that they probably had to catch a plain to new orleans but did they find out which flight they were on at 4:30? I doubt it. They likely knew for at least a few days prior. Just woulda been cool of them to say something before they left like "hey, we gotta run and catch a plain but, we'll be back tomorrow live from mardi gras". I don’t want to sound like a bitchy possessive girlfriend here but, the last time they split in the middle of a show like that they didn’t come back on live for about 6 weeks.

I don’t know… maybe it’s just my perception of the show. Maybe it’s just that they have changed the format a bit to suit the larger audience. I also recall them mentioning this message board much more frequently and even posting here on occasion. That seems to have stopped completely since the big syndication deal. I just hope it’s not the celebrity going to their heads. I’d sure hate to see them end up like that douchebag stern.

This is a big part of why I think it’s so important for all of us to support the Naughty Nightie contestant that’s been a part of this board for a much longer amount of time than the contest itself.

I'd say yes but I don't know if Ant has allowed us to say that?

Of all the classes that stand face to face with the bourgeoisie today, the proletariat alone is a genuinely revolutionary class. The other classes decay and finally disappear in the face of Modern Industry; the proletariat is its special and essential product. The lower middle class, the small manufacturer, the shopkeeper, the artisan, the peasant, all these fight against the bourgeoisie, to save from extinction their existence as fractions of the middle class. They are therefore not revolutionary, but conservative. Nay, more, they are reactionary, for they try to roll back the wheel of history. If, by chance, they are revolutionary, they are only so in view of their impending transfer into the proletariat; they thus defend not their present, but their future interests; they desert their own standpoint to place themselves at that of the proletariat. The "dangerous class", the social scum, that passively rotting mass thrown off by the lowest layers of the old society, may, here and there, be swept into the movement by a proletarian revolution; its conditions of life, however, prepare it far more for the part of a bribed tool of reactionary intrigue.

barch is right the money with every thing he said. Will they wind up like Stern? Eventually. Is that a bad thing? Don't know. I still like Stern.

This, in my opinion, is far worse and, pretty much my point. A little recognision goes a long way toward keeping a devoted fan base.

One of my favorite things about the show prior to syndication was waiting for them to read something I sent or hear the name of a board member that I recognised. Yeah, it's kindy stupid and corny but, I thought it was pretty cool.

This syndication deal has its pros and cons - but the bottom line is we are just the fans. O&A will do what they feel they need to do to be successful, just like myself or anyone else on this MB would do. Does that mean I think they're becoming self-centered hollywood types? No. I mean if they have to change the show around/be a little less personal with NY, etc. so be it.

I remember when they were strictly NY, and how they would complain about not being syndicated - and us fans were right behing them (hence the "syndication when ______" at the end of every call-in or instantfeedback". Now we/they got syndication, and we, the fans, are complaining because the show has changed somewhat.

I still love the guys, and there are times when I think they do do a lot better - but remember, every day the fucking lawyers change gears on them every day as to what they can and cannot do on the show. What ever happened to WIMP? And as noted in another thread, the MOS contest is no longer an option. So rather than bitch, they try to come up with other things.

We can go back and forth as to how its been great or how it has sucked since syndication, but the bottom line is no matter what we think, the guys are gonna do what they feel is right to do. We can only hope its along the same thoughts as what we feel, but that seems to have proven not to be the case - either by their choice or the lawyers.

As for the N'awlins show, yeah that was a clusterfuck of a program, but did you honestly expect anything else? They were hammered when the show went to air, let alone as it went on. Add to that the melee of the crowd, noise levels, etc. and you've got a show that will most likely NEVER make it to a worst of replay. I took it for what I expected it to be and thought it was ok - if I expected a normal show, yeah I would've been really pissed.

I have only listened to the show since it was syndicated. Maybe there are big differences now, but I really enjoy the show. I have never heard anything like it and I was hooked since the first time I accidently turned it on. (They were looking at twato and Opie puked). Now, I'm not going to say that I have enjoyed every thing they have done. Some things just didn't work. Like the naughty nightie contest. Sure its cool, but I think they spend too much time on it. But, live and learn, ya know? This is new to them. It's like when a band starts playing arena's instead of clubs or small theaters. You have to play different and they normally suck on their first tour. You have to get used to playing to 20x more people. I also highly doubt that every idea worked when they were only on in New York. I could be wrong about that, but I'm sure there were slumps. Anyway, I love the show and think it is better than anything that has ever been on the radio.

You guys basically got what I was saying. I meant that in NY we were used to to the guys just jumping right into the show without any descriptions of bits or phone numbers or anything..It pissed me off at 1st that every other day they had to explain what WOW was but whatever thats the price of Syndication..But they've gotten better with all that I think..
Also the Spaz explanation for what choice is right is really funny..Oh the days of Babe (Bab Uh) and the Week in Review feel like years ago...

The thing I miss the most is them going off during the commercials. They had some great bits during the commercials. Bruer with the Razor Roller Scooter and Otto and George for some waxing commercial. All in all, I think the are adapting well to the changes that have come with Syndication. The Laywers I think are the biggest problem.

I always thought that too. When I first heard them, they could do what's in my pants. Then the lawyers pulled it. Why would it matter if they did things like that. Infinity today announced that they can't afford to pay for the arbitron ratings, but they refuse to let O&A do the things that will make them huge an bring in the big bucks. There is no such thing as bad publicity. They need to get rid of these stupid lawyers. Anyway, I always thought there job would be to defend O&A when they finally went too far, not stop them from from doing their bits. Lawyers suck.

I kind of like the syndication thing. It lets us in NY hear what other markets think, it certainly helps the show get more guests, and do more crazy shite, ala the Video Music Awards.

Because if you tell people that half the show is going to be a repeat, alot of people will tune out. If you don't say anything, the people will at least listen for a little bit before they tune out, and the really stupid ones will wonder why their talking about the OJ trial in the present tense.

I think some of you may have gotten the wrong impression from my previous post. I am glad they got syndicated. The benefits far out way the losses here. I still love the show and listen every day.

It's just that there are a few things they could be doing that they don't and, those little things would make all the difference in the world.

i don't think that "newbies" to the o&a show (since syndication) should post here. how the hell do they know if o&a were better or worse. personally, the show's going down hill really fast since june, but hey what do i know??

To be honest, I loved the non-syndicated O&A better. Even the worst of shows were better. (Except yesterday was the best syndication worst of because of one word, SPAZ) I mean when they were just a local show, they could get away with so much more. I know they have to go by new legal rules but still. Another thing I miss about the old days was that they could go on and on and on for almost a hour before going to commericals or even during commericals. Those were the days when you even turn off the show during commericals because you were afraid you were going to miss something. Nowadays, I know they are trying to cut the commericals down, which is more gooder, but it's not the same. I know it sounds crazy to the newbies of the show but the show was alot more funnier and more unpredictable in the old days. Plus the fact that I miss Spaz. Now those were some funny moments.
