Speculation post warning...but I couldn't help it. If this has already been posted, I apologize...delete away.

Sabean Juggling WCKG with WYSP

Tim Sabean is doubling his fun. Effective Tuesday (3/19), the WYSP/Philly OM added programming duties at "Chicago’s Fun House," also known as WCKG. Sabean’s better known in the Windy City as Tim Kelly, the name he used the first time he programmed ’CKG, from ’87 to ’90. Sabean prides himself on taking the then Classic Rocker from 19th to fourth 12+. ’CKG’s in worse shape now. In the Fall 2001 Arbitron, "Chicago’s Fun House" ranked a not-so-fun fun 23rd, tied with a 5,000-watt Gospel AM.

The station is using the same recipe that’s evolving at Infinity sister ’YSP: FM Talk. Both have Howard Stern in mornings. ’CKG follows that up with Buzz Killman and Wendy Snyder in middays, local legend Steve Dahl in afternoons, Spike Manton (7 p.m.-9 p.m.), and a tape-delayed Opie & Anthony (9 p.m.-1 a.m.). ’YSP recently deployed Washington’s Don & Mike in middays, followed by Opie & Anthony in afternoons.

Could O&A move up with Sabean in the Fun House? "I haven’t even looked at the station," Sabean told fmqb. "I’ll take a look at everything when I get there."

Sabean has a longer commute than the last time he juggled two stations. In ’93, he added then Classic Rock WXRK/New York to his dance card. And his Philly boss is an old hand at the multi-market juggle. Ken Stevens currently manages both WJFK/Washington and WNEW/New York, in addition to ’YSP.

Sabean replaces Jeff Schwartz, who resigned as Operations Director at ’CKG to relocate to California this summer with his wife. Sabean says he sees "nothing but opportunity ahead" for ’CKG and that he’s "looking forward to the new challenge."

Hell Yeah! Nice find AP.

Finally, they can make some noise and do some damage in that market instead of being tape delayed and replaced by minor league hockey.

It seemed like Tim and the boys were on seriously good terms and if he is smart, he will try to duplicate the success of YSP.

I hope so - for the sake of the Chi-town fans.
If this is true - let me be the first to say Congrats O&A, another market to be conquered!
